• Mercedes-Benz aims to strengthen its electric footprint in India market • New electric models on the horizon including EQS and EQE SUV • Company plans to receive 25 percent of its sales from electric cars by 2027
With 2022 coming to an end soon, Mercedes-Benz India has shared its plans to broaden the range of EQ models in the country. This move comes into effect after the German automaker committed to making 25 percent of its sales from EV models by 2027. The new models will be underpinned by new skateboard platforms that are currently in development. Here are some upcoming electric cars from Mercedes-Benz.
The electric SUV, Mercedes-Benz EQS is expected to be launched by June 2023 in the Indian market, though it is already revealed in the foreign market. The new EQS SUV will offer the same 107.8 kWh battery pack available on the EQS sedan with a single and dual motor setup. The all-electric SUV will also get the MBUX hyperscreen with a 12.3-inch digital display for both the driver and the passenger along with a 17.7-inch infotainment system. As far as safety is concerned, the new Mercedes–Benz EQS EV SUV offers six airbags, a 360-degree camera view, an automated parking assist, and several drivers assists.
The expected price of the upcoming Mercedes Benz EQS SUV is Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will be the fifth EV from the German automaker in India. Expect the model to launch in India by December 2023. The new EV is currently available in the international market in three trims: EQE 350+, EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC. All variants are expected to use the 90.6 kWh battery pack.
Like the other EQ models, the new EQE will come with a 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. In addition, the EQE electric SUV will also offer four-zone climate control, Burmester 3D surround sound system, leather-free interiors, and an air purification system. For safety features, the electric SUV will provide multiple airbags, brake assist, rear seat belt alert, attention assist, park assist and more.

Mercedes-is also expected to launch the electric C-Class in the country before the end of 2024. However, there is no official announcement regarding the same. As hinted by Markus Schafer, the COO of Mercedes-Benz, the future electric C-class equivalent would not use the electric MEA platform that would underpin the EQS. Instead, it would adopt the new MMA platform which is being designed for the budget electric vehicles.
All the above mentioned upcoming electric cars are expected to come equipped with ADAS functions as standard, helping improve the overall safety of the vehicle.
The expected price of the upcoming Mercedes Benz C-Class EV is Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom).
