The most prominent difference on the outside between the three and five-door Force Gurkha SUVs is the number of doors, making the latter 425 millimetres longer. On the weight scale, the bigger off-roader is heavier by 325 kg at 3,125 kilograms. Gurkha three-door’s turning radius stands at 5.5 metres and five-door’s at 6.3 metres, respectively.
The other striking bits including the iconic snorkel (segment-first), round LED headlamps with DRLs and 18-inch alloy wheels are common among the siblings. Best-in-class water wading capability of 700 millimetres and 65-litre fuel tank capacity is also standard. Colour options on the upcoming SUVs are green, red, white and black.
As you step in the single-tone black dashboard layout is identical. A bigger 9-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a digital instrument cluster is also available in the equipment list. There’s also a segment-leading gear-changing knob (4H, 4L and 2H) that works on the fly. It is the seat layout of 3+driver (three-door) and 6+driver (five-door) where things begin to differ substantially. Owing to the seating layout, a 500-litre luggage space is made possible.
Power output from the 2.6-litre turbo diesel block has gone up significantly by 47 bhp to 138 bhp, while 320 Nm marks a bump of 70 Nm in the toque department. Reportedly, it will do duty on the two stablemates in the same state of tune.
Three-door Gurkha comes at a price tag of Rs. 16.75 lakh and the five-door is available for Rs. 18 lakh, ex-showroom. Deliveries are set to commence from mid-May.
