Hyundai Motor India recently launched its SUV, Alcazar with a brand new 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine. The new 3-row SUV competes against the mid-size SUV segment which includes Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Mahindra XUV700. All these SUVs are powerful in terms of performance and safety features. In this blog, we will enlighten you about the exterior, interior, powertrain, and safety features of these SUV options while comparing their prices. If you are thinking of buying a new SUV, comparing the specifications of different vehicle options is important. Without further ado, let’s get into more details.
The exterior design of all these vehicles is quite distinctive for many reasons. The Hyundai Alcazar Facelift comes with a bold and tall stance with an elegant design, making it look more premium. It has a dark chrome exterior signature cascading grille, trio beam LED headlamps, LED fog lights, side footsteps, dark chrome door handles, seamless floating roof design, and twin tip exhaust is to make a note of. In contrast, Tata Safari features a chrome studded tri-arrow front grille, iconic roof rails with Safari branding, Xenon HID projector headlamps, signature twin light LED tail lamps, and dual-tone machined alloy wheels.
On the other hand, the MG Hector Facelift highlights a massive diamond-studded chrome grille. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with a 5-spoke dual-prong design. While XUV700 features LED DRLs and clear view headlamps, sequential LED indicators, and R18 diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Onboard features of the Alcazer Facelift include dual 10.25-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and 64-colour ambient lighting. Tata Safari also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital driver's display, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof.
While the Facelifted MG Hector Plus is equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system. Besides the 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system, it gets voice-controlled ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a full digital driver's display. On the other hand, XUV 700 offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof.

The automakers of these SUVs take care of the passenger's safety and thus equipped their cars with advanced features. The pack of safety features offered on all vehicles includes Child Seat ISOFIX Anchor Points, Front Fog Lamp, Parking Assist, Blind View Monitor, ABS with EBD, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Electronic Stability Control.
With respect to the engine options, the Hector Plus is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is capable of delivering 141 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. On the other hand, Hyundai has updated its Alcazar with a 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol (158 bhp and 253 Nm), mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the XUV 700 is powered by two engines; 2.0-litre turbo petrol ( 197 bhp and 380 Nm) and 2.2-litre turbo diesel (183 bhp and 450 Nm). Looking at the diesel mill, Safari comes equipped with a Kryotec 2.-0-litre diesel option that can produce a power of 168 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque.
The price range of these SUVs sits in a similar bracket. While the Alcazar SUV is priced between Rs 16 lakh to Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom), Tata offers its Safari in the range of Rs 15.64 lakh to Rs 22.71 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector Plus Facelift is being offered in the price bracket of Rs 20.14 lakh to Rs 22.20 lakh (ex-showroom) whereas XUV 700 pricing starts from Rs 13.45 lakh that goes up to Rs 25.48 lakh (ex-showroom).
