The powertrains under the hoods are differently characterized for the Citroen Basalt and Honda Elevate. The Citroen Basalt comes with two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated and a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged. The naturally aspirated engine produces 80.8bhp and 115Nm of torque, which comes mated to a 5. The engine is turbocharged and develops 109bhp with 190Nm of torque, which can be further bumped up to 205Nm with an automatic gearbox. The engine comes mated to both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. It comes in with measurements of 4352mm length, 1765mm width, and 1593mm height, with a wheelbase of 2651mm.
In contrast, the Honda Elevate gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 119.35bhp and 145Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. The Honda Elevate is measure as 4352mm in length, 1765mm in width, 1593mm in height, and 2651mm of wheelbase. It has a boot space of 458 liters.
Design-wise, the Basalt remains bold and rugged, with the matte finish plastic cladding, diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels, and traditional flap-type door handles being visually beautiful. It also gets elements like halogen tail lamps and the new modern LED projector headlamps with DRLs. The front profile of the Basalt boasts a very aggressive stance with a wide radiator grille and a chunky dual-tone bumper.
On the other hand, the Honda Elevate is quite squared and traditional. The front fascia features a large grille with a Honda badge in the center and is flanked by slim LED headlamps connected through a chrome bar. The side profile is clean, with sleek lines and slightly flared wheel arches. At the back, wrap-around LED tail lamps illuminate a large dual-tone bumper that houses a faux skid plate. These alloy wheels are of the same dimension at 17-inches diamond-cut but their designs are of different tastes from each end. The rugged and strong for the Basalt and classic and sturdy for the Elevate.
The Citroen Basalt adapts the same design language as the C3 Aircross, sporting a 5-seater layout inside. The interior has a light leatherette dashboard, hexagonal in design, infotainment with a floating 10.2-inch touchscreen, auto climate, and a fully digital instrument panel. The front armrest is foldable, and besides the cup holders, it is now also be equipped with adjustable headrests for the rear bench. Rear AC vents with a charging port ensure passenger comfort and convenience while on the move.
The Honda Elevate receives a dual-tone interior theme and a clean, simple dashboard design. It also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an e-SIM-based remote connectivity feature with Honda Connect, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, and a single-pane electric sunroof. Although it has big and comfortable seats, the center seat in the second row might be less desirable, as it has a pronounced hump. The Elevate is further loaded with features like a lane-watch camera, a reverse camera, and wireless phone charging.
Both the SUVs come very properly kitted out for the safety of the occupants inside. The Citroen Basalt features six airbags, electronically controlled stability, a rear parking camera, and a system that monitors the pressure in the tyres. And all these sum up to the safety the occupants would experience.
The Honda Elevate is also equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD & brake assist, a brake override system, vehicle stability assist, electronic stability & traction control, as well as hill start assist. Besides those, the Elevate incorporates ADAS technology consisting of collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, road departure warning, and automatic high beam assist, which combine to offer an impressive collection of safety features.
