Hyundai Motor India launched the Grand i10 NIOS as a mid-life facelift on January 20th this year. In terms of dimensions, the New Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS seems to be winning as it is the longest and the widest one among these three hatchbacks. It measures 3,815 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, and 1,520 in height having a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
If we compare the remaining two cars, the Tata Tiago seems to beat the Maruti Suzuki Swift in height as it is 20 mm longer and 5 mm taller. However, the Swift is 58 mm wider than the Tiago having a 50 mm longer wheelbase.
The 2023 Grand i10 NIOS highlights a new aggressive front bumper with a black radiator grille, stylish LED DRLs and projector headlamps. Its side profile does not feature any drastic changes except for the 15-inch alloy wheels. Besides, the rear is adorned by new LED tail lights, connected by the light bar.
Talking about the Tiago’s front, it features a sleek tri-arrow-designed Piano Black grille. Along with this, the hatchback gets circular fog lights, projector headlamps, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome garnished tailgate and door handles. In contrast, Maruti Swift highlights a sporty cross mesh front grille, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and auto foldable ORVMs.
The cabin of the Grand i10 NIOS features a dual-tone grey and black theme. Other features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and more.
The Tiago on the other hand is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a cooled glove box. While the Swift features a driver-oriented cockpit design with leather-wrapped steering wheel, a coloured multi-information display, and sporty front seats.
As far as the safety features are concerned for these three hatchbacks, the Grand i10 NIOS is the only model to offer 4 airbags as standard with optional 6 airbags. While the remaining two provide only dual airbags. In addition, Hyundai boasts up to 30 safety features on its hatchback including a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Control, Cruise Control, Hill Start Assist Control, and more.
On the other hand, Tiago and Swift offer similar features including a rear parking camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, ABS with EBD, rear wash wiper with defogger, and ESP with Hill Hold Assist.
The 2023 Grand i10 NIOS comes equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and an optional 5-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti Swift and Tata Tiago share the similar powertrain configurations as the Grand i10 NIOS. However, the Swift and Grand i10 NIOS get a 4-pot motor while the Tiago only gets a 3-cylinder unit.
Talking about the power output, Swift seems to be more efficient as its petrol engine generates 89 bhp of maximum power with 113 Nm of peak torque. Tata Tiago's powertrain is capable of making 84 bhp and 113 Nm torque. In comparison to this, the Grand i10 NIOS's petrol engine delivers only 82 bhp of power with max torque of 114 Nm. It should be noted that all these three hatchbacks are offered with the optional factory-fitted CNG kit.
The starting price of the 2023 Grand i10 NIOS is set at Rs 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom) which can go up to Rs 8.46 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top end variant. In comparison to this, Tata Tiago is the least expensive as it is priced between Rs 5.45 lakh to Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Among all these three hatchbacks, Swift's starting price is higher. It begins from Rs 5.92 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top of the line trim.
