Kia Cars has finally revealed the new and updated Sonet to the world. First introduced in India in September 2020, the automaker has now featured big changes for the upcoming Sonet facelift including refreshed exterior design and ADAS features. Prices are yet to be announced, however, bookings are currently open at Rs 25,000. Let's check out what new changes have been made to the facelifted Sonet:
Comparing the old Sonet to the new one, it seems like Kia focused the changes on the lights, bumpers, and alloy wheel design. The updated LED headlights now have a tripod design for the main beam and a C-shaped LED DRL.
The SUV also sports a more muscular bumper and an upgraded chrome grille, improving its attractiveness. On the side, the overall design remains, but the 16-inch alloy wheels have a new look. The backside maintains its connected LED tail lamps and has tweaked bumpers for a refreshed look.
The new Kia Sonet facelift maintains its premium experience with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and semi-leatherette upholstery. It adds new elements like a coloured digital instrument cluster and a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Besides these updates, the model continues to offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, LED ambient lighting, BOSE 7-speaker premium sound system, rear door sunshade curtains, ventilated front seats, fully automatic climate control, air purifier, and over 70 Kia Connect functions.
Kia is taking safety to the next level with the new Sonet, making it the only compact SUV to offer 15 standard safety features in its category. The car comes with 6 airbags as a standard feature, making Kia the youngest brand in India to offer all its vehicles with either 6 or 8 airbags. The Sonet is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes 10 autonomous features like Front Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA).
With a total of 25 safety features, including a robust set of 15 Hi-Safety features, the new Sonet sets a new standard for safety in its segment. It also boasts 10 best-in-segment features, such as a Rear Door Sunshade Curtain, Dual Screen Connected Panel Design, a Smartpure Air purifier with Virus and Bacteria protection, and Door Power Window one-touch Auto up/down.
Like the old Sonet, the new Kia Sonet comes with three powertrain options too. The Tech line models have a 1.2-liter petrol engine with 81 bhp and 115 Nm and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel with 113 bhp and 250 Nm. On the other hand, the GT line and X-Line models feature a more potent 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 120 bhp. Transmission choices include 5/6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT.
The old Sonet retails at Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model while its top-spec model comes at Rs 14.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the new Sonet facelift have not been announced yet. However, with the new features included, especially ADAS, the automaker can make the new Sonet a bit more pricey than the old Sonet.
