The Thar Roxx is Mahindra's latest SUV in India, offered with petrol and diesel fuel options. The company has only announced the prices of the RWD versions of the SUV. And, the prices of the 4x4 Thar Roxx will be released before official commencement of bookings on October 2, 2024.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes as a more family oriented lifestyle SUV, which has all the features and tech missing in the 3-door Thar. In fact, customers can consider the Roxx as their primary car that's not associated with the 3-door Thar. In fact, the aggressive price tag makes it a worthy alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and other mid-sized SUVs in India.

- Dimensionally, the Thar Roxx is 4,428mm long, 1,870mm wide and 1,923mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,850mm. Compared to the 3-door Thar, the new Thar Roxx has a 400mm longer wheelbase. It is 443mm longer, 50mm wider and 68mm taller than the smaller sibling.
- The lifestyle SUV has a fuel tank capacity of 57-litres. It offers a boot space of 644-litres (up the roof). Customers can increase the luggage space by folding the second-row seats, which come with a 60:40 split. It has a water wading capacity of 650mm.
- The Creta SUV is 4,330mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,635mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,610mm. It has a ground clearance of 190mm, while the boot space stands at 433-litres.
- In terms of proportions, the Kia Seltos is 4,365mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,645mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,610mm. It also offers a ground clearance of 190mm, while the boot space stands at 433-litres.
- While the Thar Roxx is offered with 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels, the Creta is available with 17-inch wheels. The Kia Seltos is offered with 18-inch alloys.
- Compared to the Creta, the new Thar Roxx is 98mm longer, 80mm wider and 288mm taller. In fact, the lifestyle SUV has a 240mm longer wheelbase which translates into more cabin space and bigger boot. The Thar Roxx is around 63mm longer, 70mm wider and 278mm taller than the Seltos.

The Thar Roxx is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol direct injection (TGDI) engine, which is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The petrol engine offers 2 states of tunes - 160hp/330Nm and 174hp/380Nm. It is only available as a rear-wheel-drive SUV.
Both Creta and Seltos are available with 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engines. While the former is good for 114hp and 144Nm of torque, the turbo petrol engine produces 158hp and 253Nm of torque.
The Creta NA petrol version is offered with 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox options, while the turbo version is only available with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The Kia Seltos shares the same engine gearbox combinations; however, the turbo version also gets a 6-speed iMT option.

The Thar Roxx diesel gets the same 2.2-litre, mHawk 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which also powers the Thar, Scorpio-N and the XUV700. However, the powertrain is tuned to produce 150bhp and 330Nm of torque. The power and torque output increases to 172bhp and 370Nm with automatic gearbox & 4x4 drive option. The engine can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Both Creta and Seltos are powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 114bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The Kia Seltos diesel also gets a 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) option.

Mahindra has only announced the prices of the RWD version of the Thar Roxx. The petrol range starts at Rs 12.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.99 lakh. On the flip side, the Diesel Thar Roxx is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, Pan India.
The Kia Seltos petrol is priced in the range of Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 20.37 lakh, while the diesel version is priced between Rs 12.41 lakh and Rs 20.37 lakh.
The Hyundai Creta petrol range starts at Rs 11 lakh and goes up to Rs 20.15 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel Creta is priced between Rs 12.56 lakh and Rs 20.15 lakh.
