The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol direct injection and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel. The turbo-petrol comes in two states of tune: 160hp/330 Nm and 174hp/380Nm. It gets both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. The diesel mill is available in two states of tune: 150hp/330Nm and 172hp/370Nm and gets both RWD and 4x4 drivetrain options. The Thar Roxx measures 4428mm in length, 1870mm in width, and 1923mm in height, while the wheelbase stands at 2850mm. Practicality has gone up by offering a 644-litre boot space.
Powering the Mahindra Scorpio N is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel. The turbo-petrol mill produces 202.196bhp and 370Nm of torque. The diesel is offered in two states of tune: 130.19bhp/300Nm and 172.60bhp/370Nm - the latter gets 400Nm with the automatic. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. While the standard rear-wheel drive is offered on the model, the four-wheel-drive system will feature on higher-spec variants.
The Thar Roxx sports a rather hardcore but stylish look. It gets an all-new front grille with six double-inlay slots and round LED projector headlamps. The rest of the appearance of the SUV comprises chunky wheel arches, black door handles, and either 18-inch or 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels depending on the choice of variant. The rear contains C-shaped LED tail lamps and a revised tailgate with a rear wiper.
On the contrary, the Scorpio N has underpinnings for a muscular design, while an aggressive new front grille houses LED headlamps and a larger air dam. Further aggressive looks continue with body cladding and squared-off wheel arches. At the bottom, it rides on 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, while the rear comprises a horizontal tailgate and vertical tail lamps along with a large-sized skid plate.

Inside, the Thar Roxx is impressive with a dual-tone interior and soft-touch materials. It gets a dual 10.25-inch screen set-up for infotainment and instrumentation, a 6-way powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV gets wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, and a Harman Kardon sound system with 6 speakers, 2 tweeters, and a subwoofer.
The new interior of Scorpio N has been a sea change from its predecessor. While key changes here are the layered dashboard in brown and black, aluminum treatments, and the digital MID circular structure, it shall be available in both six and seven-seat options onboard an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity. Other traits are a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a wireless charger, and dual-zone climate control.
Talking about the safety features, both the models do great. The Thar Roxx features six airbags, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control, besides electronic stability control as well as traction control.
In comparison, features that are offered as standard on the Scorpio N include six airbags, ABS with EBD, and Hill Launch Assistance. The Thar Roxx comes with prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh and going up to Rs 20.49 lakh across six trims: MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L, AX7L, and 14 variants. It is competing with Force Gurkha 5-Door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
As against that, Scorpio N is sold in five trims: Z2, Z4, Z6, and Z8, across 30 variants, between Rs 13.85 lakh and Rs 24.54 lakh. Rivals of the Scorpio N are Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and XUV700.
