The Mahindra Thar Roxx will have strong engine options, which are derived from the Scorpio N. It is expected Roxx will get a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, which chucks out 117bhp and 300NM of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that powers the Scorpio N offers 172bhp and 400Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine is capable of producing power up to 200bhp and a peak torque of 380Nm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

The dimension of the Thar Roxx is yet to be revealed, but media reports reveal that the Thar Roxx will be around 300mm longer than the 3-door Thar. The wheelbase is expected to be increased by up to 150mm. At 4.3 meters, the Thar Roxx will measure equivalent to the likes of mid-sized SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the soon-to-be-launched Tata Curvv.

On the other hand, the Tata Curvv comes fitted with an updated range of engines. It gets a new 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol, making 123.29bhp and 225Nm, and 1.5-litre diesel, making 116.38bhp and 260Nm. Where the turbo-petrol is only available with a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic option, the diesel is available with both of these transmissions. This makes the Curvv marginally sportier and a bit more fuel-efficient. The Tata Curvv dimensions are 4308mm in length, 1810mm in width, and 1630mm in height, and it also has a longer wheelbase of 2560mm. It has a generous 500-liter boot capacity, making it more practical for daily commutes and long trips with lots of cargo.
