New Car Buying Platform
In the fiercely competitive world of sub-compact crossovers, automakers are constantly striving to offer the perfect blend of style, performance and value. These vehicles boast distinct design languages, adaptable interiors, and fuel-efficient powertrains, appealing to a broad spectrum of buyers. With Mahindra's latest contender, the 3XO, entering the fray, it faces the daunting task of proving its worth in a segment dominated by titans like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. In this head-to-head comparison, let's delve deeper into their key features and see how they stack up against each other.
Under the aegis of Pratap Bose, Mahindra has undergone a significant design evolution, exemplified by the commanding presence of the Mahindra 3XO. Its robust and muscular stance is immediately striking, highlighted by a revamped front grille adorned with C-shaped LED DRLs on each end, accompanied by a front camera and ADAS housing below. The raised ground clearance and squared-off wheel arches further enhance its off-road capabilities. At the rear, you will spot a tail-wide LED strip and the new ‘3XO’ lettering right underneath the same.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza opts for a more urban-friendly design language. Compared to the XUV 3XO, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is longer (3,995 m vs 3,990 m) and taller (1,685 m vs 1,647 m) but falls short in the wheelbase department by 100 metres. Its compact proportions help it navigate through the traffic with ease. Brezza's contemporary aesthetic is defined by a chrome grille, floating roof design, signature dual DRLs, and LED projector headlamps, exuding modernity and sophistication.

Within the confines of the Mahindra 3XO, occupants are embraced by a spacious cabin. Crafted with premium leatherette materials and thoughtfully designed ergonomic elements, it offers a plush setting for both drivers and passengers alike. The centrepiece of the interior is the dual infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and digital cluster screen combination measuring 10.24-inch each and offers.
Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza boasts a refined interior with a focus on comfort and convenience. Storage compartments are ample and controls that are intuitive help in enhancing the entire driving experience. Equipped with the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, the Brezza offers wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, advanced features like a head-up display and a 360-degree camera further elevate the driving experience.
Under the hood, the Mahindra 3XO offers a range of powertrain options, including a 1.2-litre turbo petrol block and a 1.5-litre diesel that can be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission to suit different driving preferences. There’s also a 1.2-litre mStallion mill producing a peak output of 129 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. Its tried-and-tested chassis makes it equally adept at tackling city streets and rough terrain. However, we are yet to test its real-world fuel efficiency. It misses out on the hybrid tech and a CNG variant that its Japanese rival boasts.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza is powered by a reliable 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making horsepower and torque figures of 103 and 137, respectively. As it gets the hybrid tech, fuel economy figures for the manual and automatic transmissions lie in the 20.15 kmpl to 19.80 kmpl range. With its smooth power delivery and responsive handling, the Brezza excels in urban environments. Its lightweight construction due to the HEARTECT platform and agile dynamics make it a joy to drive, whether navigating crowded traffic or cruising on the highway.
