Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced the much-awaited all-electric XUV400 in the Indian market. This electrified version of XUV300 is aimed squarely at the Tata Nexon EV MAX and promises a lot in terms of range, performance and technology. Leading the affordable EV marketplace, Tata Motor’s workhorse holds the limelight as the best-selling EV in the country and enjoys its dominance in the market. Set to launch at the start of 2023, the XUV400 is trying hard to conquer some market share off the Tata EV. Let us see how the two SUVs stack up against each other.
In terms of dimension, the Mahindra XUV400 definitely takes the win with a cabin that is not only longer, wider and taller than the competition but also sports the longest wheelbase in its segment. Measuring 4,2 metres in length, the Mahindra EV is almost 207 mm longer than the Tata. The XUV also takes the lead in the boot space department with 378 litres of cargo area as compared to 350 litres in the Nexon EV.

The Tata Nexon EV has a slight edge with 40.5 kWh battery capacity over the 39.4 kWh in the XUV400. However, the story is quite opposite in terms of the claimed range. The XUV400 promises to deliver a range of 456 kilometres on a single charge as compared to the 437 kilometres on the Nexon EV MAX. Both cars accept similar 50 kW fast charging that runs the battery from 0-80 percent in under an hour on both models.
The Tata Nexon EV MAX currently sells at the price range of Rs 18.34 lakh to Rs 20.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Although the prices of the Mahindra XUV400 will be revealed in January 2023, we expect it to be priced around the same ball park of Rs 18 and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
