KIA Carens has been dominating the MPV segment because of its features and price but Maruti Suzuki with its newly launched XL6 Facelift is ready to challenge that position. Since the upgraded 6-seater Maruti XL6 is competing with KIA Carens, here is a detailed comparison between both of these MPVs including their dimensions, seating configuration, engine, and transmission options.
Both MPVs are pretty spacious, however, there is a slight difference in their dimensions. KIA Carens seem to be more prominent in dimensions measuring 4540 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1708 mm in height while offering a wheelbase of 2780 mm. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 Facelift is slightly smaller than the Carens as it measures 4445 mm in length, 1775 mm in width, and 1755 mm in height having a wheelbase of 2749 mm.

In terms of seating configuration, the KIA Carens is a 7-seater while the Maruti Suzuki XL6 offers a seating capacity for 6 persons. Both 5-door MPVs have three seating rows with the bootspace of 209 litres for the XL6 and 216 litres for Carens.
Under the hood of KIA Carens, you will get three powertrain options. The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission provides 113.4 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit with 6-speed manual transmission & 7-speed DCT produces 138 bhp and 242 Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel with 6-speed manual transmission & 6-speed torque convertor automatic offers 113.4 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 Facelift comes with the Next-Generation 1.5-litre K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology to deliver a refined driving experience which is mated to a 5-speed manual or the new 6-speed automatic gearbox. For the automatic variant, there are paddle shifters as well. The XL6 offers 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. Talking about the powertrain comparison between both of these MPVs, the KIA Carens seems to be more powerful than the XL6.
The price of KIA Carens is set at Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom) which goes up to Rs 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Maruti Suzuki XL6 costs between the range of Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 14.55 lakh (ex-showroom). Again, KIA Carens wins here as its pricing is lesser than XL6 Facelift.
Presently, the KIA Carens is more powerful than the Maruti XL6 Facelift. Carens delivers a maximum power output of 138 bhp. Its 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 250 Nm of peak torque. Even in terms of transmission, Carens has the upper hand as it provides a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Considering the specifications and pricing, Maruti XL6 can be a potential rival to Carens but KIA seems to be winning the game.
