The Tata Curvv, petrol variant will get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 123.29bhp and 225Nm of torque, sent through either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. And for greener technology, Curvv is doing a pure electric variant with a 55kWh battery and dual-motor setup that could go an amazing 500km on a single charge. Additionally, a 1.5-litre engine diesel powertrain from Curvv is added, producing 113.42bhp and 260Nm of torque, mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, on the other hand, comes with two primary engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine pumps out 100.60bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. For better efficiency, we have a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle Strong Hybrid Engine that serves up 112.44bhp with 141Nm of torque. The Grand Vitara will be able to hold both petrol and CNG options, with both engines mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, whereas the hybrid ones feature an e-CVT option.
The Volkswagen Taigun comes with a choice of two turbo-petrol engines, a 1.0-litre with 113.42bhp and 178Nm, and a more powerful 1.5-litre that makes 147.94bhp and 250Nm. Both powertrains come standard fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission, but the 1.0-litre can opt for a 6-speed torque converter, and the 1.5-litre can be had with a 7-speed dual-clutch auto.
As for the exterior design, this new Tata Curvv looks modern with its new set of alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and sharp black plastic cladding. Key exterior design highlights include a fast-sloping roofline, two-piece wrap-around LED taillights, flush-fitting door handles, and a shark fin antenna. The same headlamp setup features a main split unit on the lower bumper area and LED DRLs on the upper part, similar to the previous Nexon and Punch EVs.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara comes with a bold new look in place. With a large chrome grille and a split headlamp setup. Sharp LED DRLs and a skid plate for a brawny look. On the side, strong shoulder lines can be seen, flowing from front to rear with large R17 precision-cut alloy wheels. Its rear end is identified by a curved tailgate and LED tail lamps that span the width of the car.
The Volkswagen Taigun doesn't differ from the classic VW design, but it gives it a contemporary feel. The front gets a vertical chrome grille that's flanked by sweptback LED headlamps and a large air dam with new LED fog lamps. It tends to look bulky due to a strong shoulder line, short overhangs, and, in profile, the fat 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and thick black body cladding. The rear end has a unique tailgate with a connected LED tail lamp bar and a faux skid plate on the Taigun.
The interior of the Tata Curvv tends to complement the exterior accordingly. The Curvv will come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster done by Harman, and a JBL music system. In addition, the Curvv will receive a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, automatic temperature control, a powered tailgate with gesture control, and a wireless charger. Comfort will be guaranteed by ventilated front seats, together with a 6-way power adjustable driver's seat and a 360-degree surround view.
The interior of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara carries a traditional but premium feel. It is equipped with a 7-inch digital cluster and an infotainment system attached to Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The cabin receives chrome inside door handles, black PVC with stitching on door armrests, front footwell lights, and ambient lighting. Further comfort features provided to the passenger include power windows, adjustable steering, a height-adjustable driver seat, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and a foldable rear seat with a 60:40 split.
Inside, the Volkswagen Taigun gets a premium touch and finish. Apart from these, it features a 10.09-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a dual-tone interior with partial leatherette upholstery, laser red ambient lighting, and décor inserts in the Amur Grey or Dark Red Glossy and Carbon Pattern. Even the scratch-resistant décor adorns the dashboard. The Taigun also offers a centre armrest in leatherette, chrome accents on air vents, power windows, adjustable steering, height-adjustable driver seat, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and a 6-speaker audio system.
Safety comes first in the Tata Curvv, with a maximum of six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. The car also gets an electronic parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, an auto-hold function, and a blind-spot monitoring system.
In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will come with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, central locking, and child safety locks. More features in the model include TPMS, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill assist, and a 360-degree view camera.
Safety-wise, in the Volkswagen Tiguan, there are six airbags for ultimate protection, ABS, brake assist, central locking, child lock, and TPMS, apart from an engine immobilizer, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and even hill assist.

The Tata Curvv is expected to be priced between Rs. 10.50 and Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for both EV and ICE variants.
The petrol-driven Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has a price range of Rs. 10.99 lakh to Rs. 19.93 lakh, ex-showroom price, and has a total of 12 trim versions to offer.
The Volkswagen Taigun ranges in price from Rs. 11.70 lakh to as high as Rs. 19.74 lakh, ex-showroom price, and this car comes in nine mechanical versions with options for both manual and automatic gearboxes.
