The Tata Punch EV gives two different battery options: a 25kWh and a 35kWh. The 25kWh puts out 80.4bhp and 114Nm of torque while going from 0-100 km/h in 13.5 seconds. The bigger 35kWh ups this to 120.6bhp and 190Nm of torque with better acceleration. Three drive modes are on offer: City, Sport, and Eco for the 35kWh model.

Charging is relatively flexible too: you can specify a 3.3 kW AC wall box, a 7.2 kW AC wall box, and there's the option of a DC fast charger. If you do use that DC fast charger, it'll take 56 minutes from 10-80% for both the 25kWh and 35kWh batteries; a full charge from flat with a 7.2kW AC charger takes about 5 hours. Compact at 3857mm long, 1742mm wide, and 1633mm tall, it has a wheelbase of 2445mm, while the ground clearance is 190mm. The boot space is a respectable 366-litres.

Broad variants for the Tata Nexon EV are only two: MR, or Medium Range and LR, or Long Range. While the former has a 30kWh battery that puts out 127.2hp and 215Nm of torque, the latter gets a 40.5kWh battery producing 142.68hp with the same amount of torque at 215Nm. This, in turn, allows the LR model to go from 0-100km in a decent 8.9 seconds with a top speed of 150km, which is pretty good.

All these are available with three-mode drives: Eco, City, and Sport. Size-wise, the length of the entire Nexon EV is 3994mm, the width is 1811mm, and the height is 1616mm, while the wheelbase stands at 2498mm with 190mm ground clearance. The boot storage has come down by 10 liters but still sits at a decent 350-litres for this class of vehicle.

Tata Punch EV Vs Nexon EV - Exterior

The Tata Punch EV carries a very modern-looking design based on Tata's new Acti.ev platform. The front is distinctive with a blanked-out grille housing the charging port, while a full-width LED light strip runs across the bonnet; there's also a split headlamp setup with the main units mounted on the lower bumper. The said lower bumper gets a broad air intake and a faux skid plate. Coming to its side profile, the SUV maintains the classic look of Punch with chunky cladding and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear gets sculpted taillights along with a dual-tone bumper featuring faux skid plates and is both stylish and rugged in equal measure.

The Tata Nexon EV is based on the concept of the Curvv SUV Coupe. It has been given an aggressive as well as an aerodynamic look due to the body-coloured upper panel and trapezoidal headlamp housing. It features a full-width LED light bar up front that adds to the looks and displays the charging status, too. The Nexon EV carries forward the split headlamp setup: sequential LED DRLs at the top and a large air intake below. At the rear lies a set of connected LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, along with a revised bumper featuring contrasting trims, lending it a sporty and premium appeal.

The cabin of the Tata Nexon EV comes off more premium with its dual-tone black-purple theme. It has a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit featuring a new UI and also gets wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. The Infotainment system comes fitted with an Arcade.ev app suite for streaming services including Prime Video and Disney+. It also has a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a touch-based HVAC control panel.
