India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
The Korean automaker, Hyundai is facing a tough competition from the likes of Mahindra and Tata Motors in the Indian market. In order to maintain its position in the highly competitive market, Hyundai plans to add multiple new cars in the portfolio over the period of next couple of years. In this article, we talk about top 2 much-awaited new Hyundai electric cars to be launched in the country in the next couple of years.
Hyundai will introduce the long-awaited Creta EV in the country in the first quarter of 2025, most probably at the Bharat Mobility Show in January. The electric SUV is likely to enter production line-up in December 2025. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, it is visible that the Creta EV will look largely identical to the regular ICE model.
The SUV will come with several EV-specific design elements such as a closed-off front grille with the charging port, new bumpers and freshly aero-optimized alloy wheels. The cabin will also have some changes in line with the Ioniq 5. It will have repositioned ventilated seat buttons, an electronic parking brake, new Ioniq 5-like 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters and the drive selector stalk on the steering coloumn.
The new Creta EV is likely to get a 45kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor, which is expected to be the same as the Kona EV on sale in the global market. The electric motor is rated at 136hp and 255Nm of torque. Keeping competition in the mind, the new Creta EV could also get a bigger battery pack. Its direct rivals including Suzuki e Vitara and Tata Curvv EV are offered with two battery packs with higher variants getting 60kWh and 55kWh, respectively. The smaller battery pack version is claimed to offer a range of up to 450km on a single charge. We expect the new Creta EV to cost somewhere around Rs 17 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
The Korean automaker will launch its smallest electric SUV based on the Inster in the country in 2026. The Hyundai Inster EV is already on sale in select international markets and has dimensions similar to the Exter micro SUV on sale in our market. It will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform. Internally codenamed HE1i, the new Inster EV will rival the likes of the Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3. It will have a longer wheelbase compared to the Casper micro SUV.
This entry-level electric SUV comes with NMC battery packs with capacities of 42Kwh and 49kWh, respectively. While the former offers a range of up to 300km, the Long-Range model delivers 355km range in a single charge. The India-spec model could come with the same set of battery packs. It is expected to be packed with a standard 11kW charger. In terms of features, the entry-level EV from Hyundai will have 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless charging unit, a single-pane sunroof, ADAS, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
