India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the all-new Swift soon in India. Codenamed YED, the vehicle is being tested on Indian roads, and its production is likely to begin next month. The upcoming Swift Facelift will be manufactured at Maruti's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, just like the current model. We don't know exactly when it will be launched in the country, but certain media reports suggest it might happen around April 2024.
Until then, let us look at the spy images and see what all information we can gather on the upcoming hatchback.
The New Swift, unveiled late last year in Japan, stays true to this design philosophy. While retaining familiar design elements, from the bodyshell to the headlights and tail lamps, the overall appeal is now more sharply defined.
Despite appearing almost identical in size to its predecessor, the Swift facelift boasts dimensions that include a 15mm increase in length, a 40mm reduction in width, and a 30mm boost in height. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,450mm. It is worth noting that these specifications are for the Japanese model, and the Indian version may exhibit minor variations in styling and size.
Stepping inside, the dashboard features the same layout found in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Fronx. However, the images suggest some styling differences, confirming that the four-wheeler will feature a unique dashboard layout. Other features will include a floating touchscreen infotainment unit, an instrument cluster, flat-bottom steering wheel, HVAC controls, and more.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce its all-new Z12 engine, a 1.2-litre petrol motor that is specific to India. This powertrain option has been featured in the Japanese version of the hatchback and we expect the India spec to offer mild-hybrid technology, along with some adjustments in power and torque output due to varying emissions regulations in the country.
