India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
The Indian automobile market has been witnessing a surge in demand and sales of SUVs, especially the small or compact models. These SUVs have been favoured for their rugged looks, high ground clearance, feature-packed interiors, and, of course, their affordable pricing. Small/compact SUVs are more value-for-money and practical options for first-time and young buyers, as well as for those upgrading from hatchback and sedan segments to SUVs. This is the reason why the compact SUV space is crowded with options. Three new small family SUVs will join the bandwagon in 2025. Let’s take a look at the key details of these forthcoming models.
Hyundai has started testing the new-generation Venue subcompact SUV, which is reported to enter production in late 2025. The carmaker’s Talegaon manufacturing facility will serve as the production hub for the new Venue. Spy images confirm that the new model will retain its original boxy stance. Most of its design changes will be inspired by the Creta and Alcazar facelifts.
It will feature a wider grille with new rectangular design elements, a taller bumper, and headlamps with a split pattern, as seen in the Creta. The presence of a module at the front confirms the ADAS suite, which will be reserved for higher trims. There will also be new LED detailing for the taillamps. A few upgrades will be made inside the cabin as well. The engine setup is likely to be carried forward from the current generation, which comes with a 1.0L turbo petrol, a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, and a 1.5L diesel.
Kia India will soon unveil its all-new sub-4-metre SUV, called the Syros. Its market launch will take place early next year. Initially, the Kia Syros will be offered with ICE (internal combustion engine) powertrains. Its petrol version could feature the 118bhp, 1.0L turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines, while the diesel model might be powered by a 1.5L motor. The Syros EV launch is also on the cards, though its timeline is yet to be revealed.
It’s likely to borrow some features from the Sonet. The feature list might include a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup (similar to the Creta), a Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, rear disc brakes, front parking sensors, ABS with EBD, a tire pressure monitoring system, and ADAS tech. The upcoming Syros will have a tall-boy stance with high ground clearance.
Mahindra & Mahindra will soon introduce the electric iteration of the XUV 3XO subcompact SUV. It will directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV and other EVs in the same price bracket. The design of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will be slightly different from its ICE counterpart, featuring a closed-off front grille with a larger central air intake and badging, new alloy wheels, C-shaped taillamps, and a few more EV-specific design elements.
The interior will be exactly similar to the ICE-powered XUV 3XO. The electric compact SUV will come with features such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, push-button start/stop, auto headlamps, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and more. The powertrain setup of the XUV 3XO EV is likely to include a 35kWh battery pack and an electric motor.
