India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Buoyed by excellent response for the new Elevate, Honda Cars India is now planning to launch more new cars and SUVs in the country. The company plans to introduce a wide range of new electric cars in the Indian market. An all-new electric SUV based on the new Elevate is scheduled to be launched in our market sometime in 2025-26.
Honda Cars India has also announced plans to launch 4 more electric SUVs by 2030. Not just EVs, the Japanese brand will introduce new ICE vehicles in the country in near future. The next big launch from the house of Honda is the next-gen Amaze compact sedan, which is currently under development. Moreover, rumours suggest that the Japanese brand could launch a new sub-4 meter SUV based on the new-gen WR-V on sale in Indonesia.
If reports are to be believed, Honda will introduce the new generation Amaze sub-4 meter sedan in the country during festive season, 2025. The new Honda Amaze will be designed and developed on the same platform that underpins the City and Elevate. However, the architecture will be tweaked for a much shorter wheelbase with an overall length less than 4 meters.
For instance, the Elevate has a wheelbase of 2650mm and City rides on a 2,600mm wheelbase. The current Amaze has a wheelbase of 2,470mm long and the next-gen model is also likely to have similar size. The new model will share styling cues from the bigger Honda sedans on sale in global markets. Inside the cabin, the sedan is likely to have a more premium dashboard layout with a larger, free-standing touchscreen setup and a semi-digital instrument console.
It is likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated, petrol engine that powers the current model. This engine churns out 90PS and 110Nm, and is paired to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic unit.
Honda Cars India has officially announced plans to launch the Honda Elevate based electric SUV in the country by 2026. Called the Project ACE (Asian Compact Electric), the new electric SUV will be produced in India and will also be exported to select international markets including Japan. Details about the new electric SUV are yet to be revealed. We believe the new SUV to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge. It will be positioned against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX and the Tata Curvv EV.
If rumours are to be believed, Honda is also considering a new sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. The company had introduced the new-gen WR-V in select South Asian markets. It is based on the City's platform and could be a good option for India. The new Honda sub-4 meter SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and others. If launched, the new SUV will receive the 1.2L NA petrol or a 1.5L NA petrol with manual gearbox and CVT.
