Adding to it, Hyundai is preparing Inster EV, and next-gen Venue based electric compact SUV. Moreover, Grand i10 Nios based entry-level electric hatchback is also under development.
If reports are to be believed, production of the Hyundai Creta EV will commence by December 2024. The SUV is expected to be launched at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, the Creta EV will look largely identical to the regular ICE model. It will receive some EV-specific design changes including a closed-off front grille with the charging port, new bumpers, and fresh aero-optimized alloy wheels.
The dashboard layout will be similar to the ICE model; however, it will have new treatment. The SUV will get repositioned ventilated seat buttons, an electronic parking brake, new Ioniq 5-like 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters and the drive selector stalk on the steering column. The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to feature a 45kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. This motor is the same as the Kona EV on sale in global markets. Power and torque output stands at 136hp and 255Nm, respectively. The electric SUV is expected to offer a range of up to 450km on a single charge.
The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 17 lakh to Rs 22 lakh. It will directly rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.
The Korean brand is preparing the next-gen Grand i10 Nios, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2026-27. If reports are to be believed, the Grand i10 based electric hatchback is also under development. It will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV, which currently has no direct rival in the Indian market.
The Korean brand will also introduce the Inster EV in our market by 2026. It will mark the debut of Hyundai's e-GMP born electric platform. This model will directly rival the Tata Punch EV and the Citroen eC3. Adding to it, the next-gen Venue based electric compact SUV is also under development. This model will challenge the Tata Nexon EV.
