Mahindra to launch XUV900 EV in India; Will be a 7-seater flagship electric SUV; Will get the teased C-Shaped LED lights
With just days left before the global unveiling of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Born Electric SUVs, we have news of a new flagship product in works for India. Expected to go by the XUV900 name, the new EV has been conceptualised by Rushlane.com based on teasers shared by the company.
Based on the teaser videos and images, the designer has created a new clean slate design for the upcoming flagship EV. Set to be a 7-seater, the four-wheeler’s front end is dominated by the new C-shaped LED signature lights. Gone is the 7-slat Jeep inspired grill and incomes a blank plastic element giving the car its distinctive EV look. From some angles the front end of the XUV900 draws inspiration from the KIA EV6 with a drooping muscular bonnet and strong lines.
Towards the side, we get to see the sheer size of the SUV along with the smooth metal surface. Being an EV, the four-wheeler gets flush door handles, aero cover for the wheels and cameras in place of ORVMs to help reduce the drag coefficient. Towards the rear, we can expect the C-shaped LED light treatment to continue with a sloping rear windscreen, giving the vehicle a coupe-like silhouette.
While the design render doesn’t give information about the interior, we can expect the SUV to come with a large touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital driver display. Based on the latest teaser image, we believe the vehicle to come equipped with a next gen AdrenoX interface for the touchscreen that will act as the control centre for everything within the cabin. Even more we can expect Mahindra to devoid the interiors of any physical buttons and replace it with haptic touch pads.
Other than this, the XUV900 will be any other Mahindra SUV with a plethora of features to choose from.
The company has not given any details about the powertrains expected to be a part of its Born Electric Package. We expect it to come with a 70kWh battery pack giving the vehicle a true world range of over 450 kilometres.
