Mercedes-Benz India has launched its eagerly-awaited GLS Facelift in the Indian market today. Priced at Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom), the updated iteration of the GLS SUV gets styling updates, additional features, and two engine choices; 3.0-litre petrol and diesel.
The facelifted GLS highlights notable design changes over the existing model. Up front, it flaunts its horizontally slated grille in a silver finish. The front bumper now offers new air inlet grilles with shiny black surrounds. Headlights and tail lights have also been revised, giving it a modern look.
The cabin of the GLS facelift is quite similar to the outgoing model, however, some fresh changes can be spotted inside. Mercedes has introduced two new upholstery choices - Catalana Brown and Bahia Brown.
In terms of features, the 2024 GLS gets an updated MBUX infotainment system that provides new display options with three graphic styles - Classic, Sporty, and Discreet. There are also some handy equipments like Parking Package with a 360-degree camera (as standard) and an off-road mode with different camera views all around the car.
Other features include heated and cooled seats, a Rear Seat Comfort package, wireless charging, and more.
Safety-wise, you can count on multiple airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Control, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to keep you secure on the road.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in two trims; GLS 450 (Petrol) and GLS 400d (Diesel). The 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol can pump out 375 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque while its 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel unit generates 361 bhp with 700 Nm of torque.
Both engines are mated with a mild-hybrid system that offers an additional boost of 20 bhp and 200 Nm. As for transmission options, the SUV uses a 9-speed automatic gearbox. With the 4Matic+ setup, the power is sent to all its four wheels. Besides, there are three drive modes - Eco, Comfort, and Off-road.
The price for the new GLS facelift is slightly higher than the current model. The latest GLS is now priced at Rs 1.32 crore (ex-showroom) for the GLS 450 4MATIC while for the GLS 450d 4MATIC trim it stands at Rs 1.37 crore (ex-showroom). The SUV competes against the likes of Audi Q8, BMW X7, and Range Rover Sport in its category.
