Tata Motors is all set to nearly double its product line-up before the end of this financial year. At the Investor Day event on Monday, the homegrown automaker confirms that it will strengthen its product portfolio by introducing seven new nameplates and 23 product refreshes by the FY2030.
Tata Motors is likely to have over 15 nameplates across multiple powertrains and segments by the end of this decade. The company currently has 5 nameplates across segments. While details of the new nameplates are yet to be fully revealed, it is expected the Tata will add Sierra, two new nameplates under Avinya range, two brand new ICE-powered products and two all-new electric vehicles to its line-up.
After witnessing a huge growth in FY23 and FY24, the company saw a dip in its retail sales and dealer dispatches in the financial year 2025. The company is facing strong competition from Mahindra & Mahindra, which has a strong SUV portfolio.
Not just ICE segment, Tata Motors is also facing tough competition in the EV segment with its market share dropping to around 55% from 80-85% a couple of years back. JSW MG Motor’s Windsor EV and the new Mahindra e-SUVs - BE 6 and XEV 9e - are receiving positive response from car buyers. These SUVs have significantly impacted Tata’s EV sales in 15-25 lakh segment, where it sells Nexon EV and Curvv EV.
Tata Motors has recently launched the thoroughly updated Altroz hatchback and the Harrier EV. Both models are equipped with segment-leading features and tech. Tata hopes that the Harrier EV will help the company to increase its footprints in premium EV segment currently dominated by Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. Similarly, the Altroz facelift could help the brand to regain lost ground in the market.
Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Sierra lifestyle SUV will come with ICE and EV powertrains. The EV is expected to be launched by Oct-Nov 2025, while the ICE version could arrive a month later or in early 2026. The ICE model will be priced aggressively with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara in sight. It will also get the brand’s new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which will also power the Harrier and Sierra.
Tata Avinya nameplate will be officially introduced in 2027. In fact, Tata has entered into an MoU with Jaguar Land Rover to share the EMA architecture to produce two premium products under the Avinya nameplate. Tata had showcased the luxurious Avinya X concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. A couple of years back, Tata had showcased the Avinya concept which previews a premium electric Sportback.
