Earlier this year, Tata Motors showcased the New Red Dark Editions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs at the recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo 2023. Compared to the regular models, the new SUVs get added features which have already been seen in their rivals. Now, the automaker has confirmed that it will be launching the Red Dark Editions by the end of March 2023.
While both SUVs will look largely similar to the current models, the biggest difference will be the addition of ADAS-tech. The Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions will come equipped with ADAS-features like Blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Forward-Collision Warning and Auto Emergency Braking.
Visually, you’ll be able to recognise the special editions with their new Oberon Black body colour, Zircon red inserts on the front grille and brake calipers, Daytona Gray front and rear skid plates, and 18-inch Blackstone alloy wheels.
Inside, the Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions will get an updated feature list with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, powered driver’s seat with memory function, and a 360-degree camera. Plus the cabin will offer a new Carnelian Red theme with contrasting black and red upholstery.
The dashboard and steering wheel will come finished in red while the seats and bits of the door handles will provide a red theme.
Mechanically, the special edition models will remain unchanged. Both the Harrier and the Safari will come powered by the same 2-litre four-pot turbo diesel engine that pumps out 167 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options would include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Tata Motors however will be updating the engine to make it compliant with the upcoming RDE Emission Norms coming into effect from April 2023.
Upon its launch in March 2023, the Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Škoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector, Hector Plus, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in their respective segments.
