The Kia Syros, the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV from the South Korean automaker, will soon make its global debut. The model is expected to be showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, followed by its market launch. In terms of pricing, the Syros will compete with several products in the subcompact and compact SUV segments. Let’s take a look at five key details of the new Kia compact SUV.
Despite being sub-4 metres in length, the Syros will sit above the Sonet (according to media reports). It will be a premium offering, positioned above all existing subcompact SUVs, including the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, and the upcoming Skoda Kylaq. While details are yet to be revealed, the model is expected to offer more premium features than the Sonet.
Spy images and teasers reveal that the Syros will have a tall, boxy stance, differentiating it from the Sonet and Seltos. The new Kia compact SUV will feature bumper-integrated brake lights, flush-style door handles, L-shaped taillamps mounted on the pillars, roof rails, and a high-mounted stop lamp. Upfront, it will carry Kia’s signature grille, projector LED headlamps with LED DRLs, and four-spoke alloy wheels.
While the Kia Sonet has often been criticized for its cramped rear seat space, the upcoming Kia Syros will address this issue. With its boxy stance, upright rear, and flat roof, this subcompact SUV will offer maximum cabin space without compromising comfort. More details will be revealed with its official unveiling.
Most of its features are likely to be sourced from the Sonet. The subcompact SUV might offer a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup (for infotainment and instrument functionalities), a Bose audio system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) technology. The ADAS suite, if offered, could be exclusive to higher trims. On the safety front, the Syros is likely to include multiple airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The new Kia Syros will initially offer petrol and diesel engine options, with an electric iteration coming at a later stage. The petrol version could be powered by a 118bhp 1.0L turbo engine and a naturally aspirated unit, while the diesel model might feature a 1.5L engine.
