India’s #1
New Car Buying Platform
Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to reveal multiple new electric SUVs in India over the next few years. The first to launch will be the XUV.e8, essentially the electric version of the XUV700. Mahindra has already mentioned that the upcoming BE (Born Electric) models will come packed with segment-first features. Now, the latest report has revealed that the brand’s upcoming electric SUVs will be equipped with Dolby Atmos 3D in-car audio systems.
Dolby Atmos works by creating an auditory dome around the user by precisely placing each instrument and voice in distinct locations. This allows for an immersive 3D audio experience with sounds emanating from various angles and intensities.
According to the latest reports, all of the upcoming Mahindra BE SUVs will get a 360-degree surround setup from Harman. The premium setup will include speakers positioned on the roof and on the bottom half of the cabin. And with the Harman audio setup with Dolby Atmos, the new Mahindra EVs will offer directional audio warnings for autonomous driving assistance, navigation prompts, and reverse camera alerts.
In the XUV700, Mahindra uses Sony’s 3D sound techno with a 12-speaker audio setup that includes a subwoofer and a 13-channel amplifier. The system offers features like tonal balance at higher speeds and also effectively helps in minimizing external noises.
As mentioned above, the first Mahindra BE SUV to arrive will be the XUV.e8, slated to be launched by late 2024. It will be followed by the XUV.e9, the SUV-coupe sibling of the e8. Mahindra recently released a teaser video that showcases the electric SUV coupe being tested. The last Mahindra EV to be launched is the BE.05, which currently has just passed the design stages.
All of the new EVs will be underpinned by Mahindra’s new born-electric INGLO platform which offers a lightweight design and modular structure. It is also compatible with advanced features like AI-enabled HUD, 5G connectivity, and OTA updates.
The architecture will accommodate battery packs ranging from 60 - 80 kWh in size, which support up to 175 kW fast charging speeds.
