New Car Buying Platform
Tata Motors recently achieved a major milestone in vehicle safety, with both the Tata Curvv ICE and Tata Curvv EV earning a full 5-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). However, a closer look at the crash test results highlights some important details that set the newly launched models apart, considering that one is powered by a traditional internal combustion engine, while the other is an electric vehicle.
Both models performed remarkably well in terms of crash safety, but the Tata Curvv EV outshone the ICE version in a few key areas. Here’s a breakdown:

EVs, like the Tata Curvv EV, are inherently equipped with extra safety features. These include stronger vehicle body structures and energy-absorbing crumple zones that protect the electric components, such as the battery and motor. As a result, EVs often perform better in crash tests. Additionally, EVs have a lower centre of gravity, making them more stable on the road and less prone to rollovers.
On top of these advantages, the battery-powered systems in EVs allow for the integration of more advanced electronic safety features, such as driver assistance systems and enhanced braking capabilities.
In the Coupe SUV segment, the Tata Curvv ICE goes against the Citroen Basalt. However, while the Curvv ICE earned a 5-star rating in the BNCAP crash tests, the Citroen Basalt fell slightly short, receiving a 4-star rating. This distinction is especially noteworthy given Tata’s consistent success with high safety ratings across its lineup.
