The Toyota Glanza has been designed to give a premium hatchback feel and touch in its segment, where one can get stylish designs and practicality. Its sleek design and efficient performance are popular among hatchback lovers. Why are Safety Ratings Important? When choosing a car, safety should be the most important consideration. Safety ratings give consumers insight into exactly how well occupants in a vehicle are protected in case of an accident. Safety is important in making informed decisions on which car to buy. Current Status on Safety Rating The Toyota Glanza has not undergone any official crash testing by the competent authorities. Though the Baleno, being its underbody sibling, has undergone testing, the expectations are that the Glanza will also be put through the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) in due course. Essential Safety Features of Toyota Glanza Airbag System: This car has dual front airbags as standard and side/curtain airbags to protect against accidents. Braking Systems: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) ensure stable and effective braking under any road conditions. Advanced Safety Features: Traction control, hill hold control, and electronic stability program are provided to enable the driver to keep the vehicle in better control and stability. 360 View Camera: It gives you a complete view of the surroundings. It helps to park and avoid obstacles while driving. Pretensioners & Force Limiter Seatbelts: It hold the occupants in place during sudden acceleration or braking. Additional Features: Provides ISOFIX child seat anchors with reverse parking sensors and head-up display for advanced convenience and safety features. Comparative Analysis The Toyota Glanza competes quite well in safety features against products from immediate rivals like the Hyundai i20 or the Tata Altroz. Glanza fails in terms of ADAS, which increasingly remains a part of newer cars. Conclusion The Toyota Glanza boasts decent safety features, such as a strong body shell, a full airbag setup, and advanced braking technologies. However, the lack of official safety ratings on its current models creates a tiny bit of doubt in the minds of potential buyers. Buyers are advised to make a safe choice and wait for official test results to come out in crash tests before deciding to buy any car. Safety is one of the major reasons to choose a vehicle for the assurance of the driver and other passengers. Also Read: Buy a Car Online: Essential Tips for a Smooth Purchase

Aiming to reduce carbon footprints and promote environmentally friendly vehicles, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has submitted a plea to ban diesel cars by 2027 in India. However, the government is still considering the proposal to reduce the number of diesel passenger vehicles in major cities in the coming years. Diesel cars and SUVs continue to enjoy great demand among buyers due to their fuel efficiency, affordability, and great resale value. While OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki and Honda have completely removed diesel vehicles from their product portfolios, Mahindra, Tata, Toyota, Kia, and MG are still catering to market demand. In 2025, there will be two major diesel SUV launches from Mahindra and MG. Interestingly, both models will be premium offerings with three-row seating arrangements (7-seat layouts). Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming 7-seater diesel SUVs: New-Gen Toyota Fortuner The new-generation Toyota Fortuner is all set to hit the roads in 2025. Earlier this year, the Japanese automaker globally revealed the Fortuner mild hybrid version (MHEV), featuring a 2.8L diesel engine paired with 48V mild hybrid technology. This setup delivers a maximum power of 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. The Toyota Fortuner MHEV is claimed to be more fuel-efficient than the SUV’s standard version, which uses a 2.8L diesel engine alone. In fact, Toyota says its throttle response is better, and the engine restart with the new idle start-stop feature ensures smoother performance. The mild hybrid setup comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and supports both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain systems. The Toyota Fortuner diesel-MHEV might also make its way to India. The new-gen Fortuner could additionally be offered with the 2.8L diesel engine alongside a new turbocharged petrol engine paired with a hybrid setup. Significant design changes and feature upgrades are expected for the 2025 Toyota Fortuner. The SUV will underpin the TNGA-F platform and will come equipped with features such as a vehicle stability control system, hydraulic steering, and ADAS technology. MG Gloster Facelift The 2025 MG Gloster facelift is likely to receive minimal changes inside and out. This upcoming 7-seater diesel SUV, based on the China-spec Maxus D90, is expected to feature a slightly revised front grille with horizontal slats, a tweaked front bumper, redesigned LED headlamps with a split pattern, and prominent DRLs at the front. Design elements such as newly designed alloy wheels and updated taillamps connected via a light bar running across the tailgate will further differentiate it from the pre-facelift version. Inside, the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be larger, and the digital driver’s display might feature a fully digital TFT unit with customizable interfaces. The interior of the 2025 MG Gloster facelift will retain the all-black theme with tan upholstery from the current model. The AC vents might be redesigned, while the dashboard and center console will also receive updates. Mechanically, the new Gloster will continue to use the same 2.0L, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, delivering a maximum power of 163 bhp and 375 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox, along with 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain options, will also be retained from the pre-facelift version. Also See - Maruti Cars Soon Get ADAS In India – Details
It is no secret that Toyota is working on an all-new lifestyle SUV, which is rumoured to be called the Land Cruiser FJ. To be positioned below the Fortuner, the new off-roader is expected to be first introduced in Thailand by the end of this year or early next year. It was speculated to be unveiled in November 2024; however, nothing has been revealed by Toyota. Smaller Than Fortuner The new mini Land Cruiser FJ is likely to have a wheelbase of around 2,750mm, while the overall length will be around 4.5 meters. The new model will be around 300mm shorter than the Fortuner; however, wheelbase of both models are likely to remain the same. It will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV and will be sold in markets where Corolla Cross is not on sale. Styling will be inspired by the Cruiser EV Concept Toyota had showcased the Cruiser EV Concept in 2022. If reports are to be believed, the mini Land Cruiser FJ styling will be inspired by the Cruiser EV Concept. The SUV will have straight lines, square body and flared wheel arches. The concept was showcased as a lifestyle rugged electric off-roader, featuring muscular front, big skid plates, heavy plastic cladding, and simple looking rear profile. Diesel Engine The new mini Land Cruiser FJ will be based on the Fortuner's IMV platform that has been tweaked to develop affordable UVs for emerging markets. Called the IMV 0, the Hilux Champ pickup is the first model developed on this architecture. Not just the platform, the new Land Cruiser FJ is likely to share the powertrain with the Hilux pick-up truck or Fortuner. The new lifestyle SUV is designed to meet the strictest anti-pollution regulations. The mini Fortuner will be powered by the same 2.8L diesel engine with micro-hybrid tech that powers the Hilux lifestyle pick-up. This diesel engine is benefited with a belt-driven electric motor/generator, a small lithium battery and converter. Toyota claims that the Hilux diesel mild-hybrid saves around 6% to 10% of fuel, depending on the version. Adding to it, the mild-hybrid tech reduces Noise, Vibration and Harshness levels. This engine is capable of producing 204hp of power and 500Nm of torque. The new mini Land Cruiser FJ will also receive a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that is good for 166bhp. An automatic gearbox will be offered as standard, while 4x4 drivetrain will be on offer with multiple drive modes. India Launch Toyota will sell the new lifestyle SUV in markets where Corolla Cross is not on sale. There is a possibility of this SUV arriving in India where it could sit between the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Fortuner. Also See - Upcoming Renault Cars In India – 4 SUVs, 1 MPV
