Maruti Suzuki is working on a new 7-seater variant of the Grand Vitara. This model has been spotted on Delhi NCR roads today. The spied pictures have given us a clearer idea of some of the changes and features that will be present in this new version.
The Y17-coded, 7-seater Grand Vitara was originally sighted in December last year. The recent spy images provide more insights into its look. The new vehicle will feature a stretched body compared to the 5-seater model. This is meant to accommodate the third row of seats.
The front of the 7-seat Grand Vitara does get some modifications. It will borrow styling elements from the e-Vitara, such as the LED-linked taillights. The headlamps will be lower on the bumper, with fresh wing-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). The rear of the SUV gets a long overhang and bigger rear quarter glass, making it look different from the current car. Also included is the 7-seat Grand Vitara that will hopefully come equipped with new 2-tone alloy wheels. These are updates that introduce a fresh appearance while having the same accustomed look of the vehicle.
The 7-seater will use the same C platform as the regular Grand Vitara. This implies that it will most probably use the same engines as well. The SUV will come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine. The motors will most probably be available with the same transmission units found in the current model.
The recent spy images were captured on the roads of Delhi NCR, during the testing of this Maruti 7-seater. It means that the SUV is underway, and we can look forward to more information soon. We can expect the 7-seat Grand Vitara in the second half of 2025.
The 7-seater Grand Vitara, when launched, will be pitted against other SUVs in the segment like Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus. It will be placed below the Maruti Suzuki Invicto in the brand's hierarchy.
