The 2024 Citroen C3 Aircross, now just called the Citroen Aircross, has had a good few updates, including a new naturally aspirated petrol engine displacing 1.2-litres of capacity and safer introductions. With the starting price at Rs. 849000 (ex-showroom, pan-India), the Aircross is all set to take on other compact SUVs in India's super-scrutiny series.

The Aircross SUV comes with all-new LED projector headlights instead of reflector-based halogen units in the previous model. It rides on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. In terms of features, the SUV gets power windows, electrically adjustable & folding ORVMs, auto AC with rear vents, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver's display, day/night IRVM and others.

Citroen Aircross Mileage

It is available in two engine options - 1.2L NA petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol. Called PureTech 82, the MODEL MT returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.5kmpl. The SUV with turbo petrol engine delivers 18.5kmpl and 17.6kmpl with manual and automatic gearbox, respectively.

Engine and Transmission

The Citroen Aircross is offered with two engine options - a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 81bhp and 115Nm, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the turbo engine produces 108bhp and 205Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit. 

Boot Space and Dimensions

The Citroen Aircross measures 4323mm in length, 1796mm in width and 1669mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2671mm. The height for the 5-seater version stands at 1665mm. 

Boot Space - the 5-seater Aircross offers a luggage carrying capacity of 444-litres. On the other hand, the 5+2 seater model has less boot. However, the boot space can be increased to 839-litres by folding the seats. 

Competition Comparison

The new Citroen Aircross directly rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Honda Elevate. The SUV also comes as an affordable alternative to Citroen Basalt. The 7-seater version can be considered as an alternative to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens.
