The Toyota Hilux is among the most legendary full-size pickup trucks in existence. It has already become the epitome of ruggedness and reliability. First released in 1968, the Hilux has since seen generations and facelifts come and go. The most recent update came as early as 2020. The 2023 Toyota Hilux now boasts more subtle design upgrades and more added interior features, proof that the pickup is a leader in its niche off-road choices and professionals alike. The Hilux is also armed with better technology and safety features, not to mention that it is already ready for the future without diminishing its trademark ruggedness.
The Toyota Hilux comes in 3 variants. The Hilux price in India starts at Rs. 30.40 lakh and goes up to Rs. 37.90 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom.
Best Value of Money Variant
The Toyota Hilux High is the best value-for-money version, with a more comprehensive package of features at a much lower price. It is equipped with all the main comforts, like a robust 4WD system, a powerful diesel engine, current features such as an 8-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone automatic climate control, but this is not coming at a stiff price like the automatic model.
The exterior of the Hilux is beautifully designed with a trapezoidal chrome grille and bright-looking LED headlights. The rugged bumpers make it look very sporty. Some added features are an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather seats in higher trims. This vehicle includes a 4x4 system, electronic differential lock, and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) for off-road performances.
Respectable ARAI-rated mileage is offered by the Toyota Hilux, which is up to 12.6 kmpl for its size and performance. The variant with a manual gearbox shows relatively better fuel efficiency than the variant offering an automatic gearbox.
It sports 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as a standard feature. For the ones who love adventure, it comes with Hill Assist Control (HAC), front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic differential lock, and carries a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
There are five available colors for the Toyota Hilux: Super White, Emotional Red, Silver Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine, and Grey Metallic. The most striking is the color Emotional Red that gives the Hilux a very bold appearance, almost aggressive.
The dimensions of the Hilux include length measurement at 5325 mm and width and height at 1855 mm and 1815 mm respectively. Its wheelbase is 3085 mm and has an 80-litre fuel tank; a large cargo bed with heavy loads makes this ideal for long trips.
The main competition in the Indian market of the Hilux is the Isuzu V-Cross, another robust pickup truck that is designed for both off-road and lifestyle purposes. Second, in the segment, it features the Hilux battling against SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster, which promise a more rudimentary option for people who are getting a car with enough pluckiness and off-road capability.
