Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is an urban crossover SUV that is based on the Baleno hatchback in India. Positioned below the Brezza, the Fronx is a perfectly made mini-sized Grand Vitara that is meant to fulfill the needs of an SUV (cabin space and design) in the budget of a premium hatchback. The four-wheeler is built on the company's Heartect platform that also underpins cars like the Baleno and the Swift in the company's product line-up.

Design Highlights

The Fronx has got quite a distinctive look as it resembles more to the Grand Vitara with its SUV-like face fitted with slim DRLs. The front end of the car is completed by the new headlamp unit, Maruti's traditional grille and a thick chrome strip. 

Bigger wheel arches and side cladding across the vehicle enhances its looks and adds a pinch of ruggedness to four-wheels overall appeal. Moreover, the sloping rear-end-inspired coupe design and connected LED tail lamps make it look fantabulous.

Compared to its hatchback counterpart, the Fronx crossover is 5 mm longer, 20mm wider and 50mm higher, with the same wheelbase.

Maruti Fronx Interior and Features

Interior: The cabin layout of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx looks more or less similar to that of the Baleno. However, the red/black colour theme hugged with matte/silver accents on the Fronx makes it look smart. There is ample space for driver and passengers inside and cabin and it can easily accommodate up to five people onboard.

Features: The new Suzuki Fronx features a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment sporting Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, Heads-up display, Wireless charger and more.

Safety: Considering the safety aspects of the vehicle, it is loaded with up to 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, reversing camera with sensors and more as standard.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Price and Variants

The first generation of the Maruti Fronx price in India starts at 751500 and extends up to Rs 1287500 (ex-showroom). There are 14 variants on offer. Models are available in Sigma, Delta and Delta+ trims with the NA petrol while the turbo petrol models are only available on the Delta+, Zeta and Alpha variants.

Engine and Specifications

As standard, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes powered by the familiar 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that powers other hatchbacks in the company’s line-up. This engine is rated for a maximum power output of 88 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. The company is offering either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox option with this model.

Additionally, there is another 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine on offer for the enthusiast. The Fronx marks the return of this turbo petrol mill that once did duty on the Baleno RS. Like before this engine makes 100 bhp and 147 Nm of peak power and torque and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or the new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option.

The Maruti Fronx is available in 10 different colours - Earthen Brown, Arctic White, Bluish Black, Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver Opulent Red, Opulent Red With Black Roof, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown with Bluish Black Roof and Splendid Silver with Bluish Black Roof.
