Maruti Grand Vitara is a mid-size 5-seater compact SUV that is on sale in the country from 2022. Sold via the NEXA premium dealership chain, this car is the company’s re-entry into the popular mid-size SUV segment, that the company quit at the end of 2013. Built on the new Global C-platform, the new model is the first modern Maruti Suzuki model to offer AWD capabilities.
Previously the Vitara was on sale in the country from 2008 to 2013 where it failed to attract customers due to its high price point.
Coming back as a completely new model, the Maruti Grand Vitara features a brand-new design characterised by a large grille and split headlamp set-up. Like all the other models from the NEXA line-up, this vehicle also provides the ‘Crafted Futurism’ design language with signature design elements. The four-wheeler offers a premium crafted chrome grille, sharp LED DRLs, skid plate and a bold front fascia that lends the vehicle its high stance.
The overall SUV appeal is further amplified on the sides by the strong shoulder lines which flow from the front all the way to the rear. Plus there are large R17 precision cut alloy wheels.
Towards the rear of Grand Vitara, you can witness a curved tailgate that provides LED tail lamps running the entire width of the car. The inclusion of indicator lights on either side positioned on the lower half and the presence of a skid plate give it the much needed premium look.
Interior:
On the inside, the Maruti Grand Vitara features a new flowing dashboard design that is similar to the one we have seen on recent Maruti Suzuki cars like the Baleno and the Brezza. The cabin is finished in an all-black theme with champagne gold accents all around.
Features:
The Grand Vitara gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support alongside connected car technology. The car also provides a large digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, HUD (Head Up Display), ventilated seats, cruise control, paddle shifters and more.
Safety:
In terms of safety, the Grand Vitara gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill-Hold Assist, Hill-Descent Control, a 360-degree parking camera and TPMS among other standard features.
Maruti Grand Vitara price in India starts from Rs 1099000 and extends to Rs 1993000 (ex-showroom). The MODEL petrol is offered in 12 variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Maruti Grand Vitara is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C engine and a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle strong hybrid that is offered with both petrol and CNG fuel type. The powertrain produces 102 bhp and 138 Nm of torque in the petrol guise, while the strong hybrid is rated for a higher 114 bhp and 141 Nm.
The SUV is offered with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox alongside paddle shifters on the petrol variants while the strong hybrid trims get e-CVT transmission option.
The Grand Vitara measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,645 mm in height having a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The car gets a 45-litre fuel tank and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The mileage of the Grand Vitara SUV is set at 21.11 kmpl for the petrol variants, while the strong hybrid trim returns 27.97 kmpl.
There are 6 distinct exterior colour options available on the Maruti Grand Vitara. They include NEXA Blue, Grandeur Grey, Chestnut Brown, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver and Artic White.
Rivals to the Maruti Grand Vitara include the KIA Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
