Performance - Expert Comments
The Jimny's K15B engine feels responsive compared to the K15C engine in the front-wheel-drive Maruti Suzuki cars. It offers reasonable torque at the lower end. It feels refined within City traffic. The engine revs to 6300rpm gradually, but it gets slower and engine gets louder on approaching redline.
Gearshift is not much smooth, which is surprising from Maruti Suzuki. In fact, the clutch operation feels heavy. The Automatic variant has an L mode where the car remains in lower gear to offer maximum pulling power.
The ride quality is good and offers a smooth drive without many bumps. The suspension setup feels comfortable and absorbs the toughest terrains with ease. The solid front and rear axles, and Suzuki's renowned AllGrip Pro tech give Jimny a mountain goat-like ability.
