Latest Update - Mahindra XEV 9e is the brand's first born-electric Coupe-SUV which was launched on November 26, 2024. Priced at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), this mid-sized 5-seater EV will is one of the most powerful and longest range models in the country. Full price list of the XEV 9e Coupe SUV will be released in the latter half of January 2025. Bookings for the Mahindra XEV 9e EV will open in the second half of January, while deliveries are being promised from February-March 2025.
Mahindra has released the price of the entry-level variant (Pack 1) of the XEV 9e. It is priced at Rs <2190000> (ex-showroom, Delhi). The full price list will be released in January 2025, most probably at the Bharat Mobility Show.
The XEV 9e is one of the most feature-loaded mass-market electric Coupe-SUVs on sale in the Indian market. It comes with Mercedes-like triple screen offering 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a 12.3-inch co-passenger display. In terms of features, the Coupe-SUV gets 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, Level 2+ ADAS, 360-degree surround view camera, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, an HUD, wireless connectivity, electrically adjustable driver's seat and many more.
The Mahindra XEV 9e is based on Mahindra's scalable and modular born-EV INGLO platform which has BYD's blade cell technology. It comes with brand's 'compact three-in-one powertrain' that combines an electric motor, an inverter and the transmission.
The electric SUV Coupe is available with two Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries - a 59kWh unit and a 79kWh unit. A rear-axle-mounted electric motor is offered as standard. While the 59kWh battery pack produces 228hp, the 79kWh battery version produces 281hp. Torque output for both versions stand at 380Nm. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in less than 7-seconds for higher variants. It offers three drive modes - Range, Everyday and Race. The e-SUV also comes with an additional Boost mode that gives 10 seconds of maximum torque.
Mahindra claims that the XEV 9e with the larger 79kWh offers a range of 656km on a single charge (MIDC cycle). On the European WTLP cycle, the electric coupe-SUV delivers a certified range of 533km. Mahindra says that the electric coupe-SUV delivered over 500km real-world range. On the flip side, the XEV 9e with 59kWh offers an MIDC range of 542km on a single charge.
Using 175kW DC fast charger, the batteries of the XEV 9e can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. The company will offer either a 11.2kW AC charger or a 7.3kWh AC charger with the electric vehicle. Using 11.2kW AC charger, the 79kWh and 59kWh batteries can be fully charged in 8 hours and 6 hours, respectively. With the smaller 7.3kWh AC charger, the batteries can achieve 0-100% charge in 11.7 hours for 79kWh unit and 8.7 hours for 59kWh unit.
In terms of proportions, the Mahindra XEV 9e is 4790mm long, 1905mm wide and 1690mm tall. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2775mm that's 25mm more than the XUV700. In fact, the Coupe SUV is 95mm longer than the 3-row XUV700. The electric SUV Coupe has a ground clearance of 207mm, which is more than enough to handle Indian road conditions. It comes with a 10-metre turning diameter, which is excellent for this size vehicle.
The SUV Coupe rides on aero-optimized 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 245/55 section tyres as standard; however, customers can also opt for 20-inch alloys shod in 245/50 section tyres. Mahindra is also offering an 18-inch spare wheel shod in 135/80 R18 rubber. The Mahindra XEV 9e boot space stands at 665-litres. Adding to it, the SUV Coupe comes with a frunk space of 150-litres.
The base variant of the Mahindra XEV 9e comes equipped with 6 airbags, a reverse parking camera, an electronic parking brake, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Higher variants get an HUD, 7 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree surround view camera and blind spot monitoring. It also comes with park assist that can automatically park the car.
Mahindra has revealed the new XEV 9e in 3 exterior colours namely Tango Red, Desert Myst and Everest White.
Mahindra XEV 9e won't have a direct rival in our market. However, it can impact the sales of the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Tata Harrier EV/Safari EV.
