The Kia Seltos has found its niche in the compact SUV since its introduction in 2019. More recently, though, the Korean car manufacturer has launched the Gravity Edition, which is based on the higher-spec HTX variant, priced at Rs. 16.63 lakh to Rs. 18.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan-India), featuring ventilated front seats and a premium Bose sound system. This update from Kia promises a continued offer to keep fresh and competitive the MODEL lineup.
The prices for Kia Seltos start from as low as Rs. 1089900 for the base petrol-manual model and reach up to Rs. 2050900 with the top-end automatic variants, while its variants of diesel start from Rs. 12.46 lakh. A total of 22 variants of Seltos are offered through three main trims: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line, which articulate through each of the trims differently with specific features and specifications considering a diversified customer base.
Most value-for-money variant
The HTX+ has the best value for money, above all these variants. While still affordable, it somehow comes with some premium features in terms of a panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, and an integrated dual display system. So, if you are focusing on safety tech, the company recommends the GTX variant as it automatically equips ADAS, apart from bringing in a 360-degree camera for safety and convenience.
Gadgets to improve comfort and convenience are in abundance with Seltos, but some of the highlights include dual 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, connected car technology to make life easy, and ventilated front seats to keep you comfortable. The vehicle flaunts LED headlamps with DRLs that provide better illumination and an attractive visual appeal, besides complete safety features like a 360-degree camera and six airbags.
Mileage varies with different engines available on the Kia Seltos. The 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol claims 17 kmpl in its manual counterpart, while the same returns as high as 17.7 kmpl when CVT is used. This 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will return as much as 17.9 kmpl with the DCT, while the 1.5-litre diesel returns are as high as 20.7 kmpl with the iMT and 19.1 kmpl with the automatic. This makes the Seltos great for daily commutes but also promises long drives without extra expense.
There is immense focus and attention towards the safety of Kia Seltos. All models have been equipped with 6 airbags, ABS along with EBD, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Management, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Level 2 ADAS, with top-end variant features including adaptive cruise control, delivers better safety for the vehicle.
The Seltos comes in a variety of colors, giving buyers the ability to personalize their vehicle. In addition to single-color options such as Clear White and Imperial Blue, dual-tone shades are also offered. The X-Line model features the standard Matte Graphite finish, which adds an exterior edge.
Three engines are offered in Kia Seltos to meet various buyer needs. It is also available in a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 113.42bhp and 144Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre Turbo-Petrol engine produces 157.81bhp and 250Nm of torque, which makes it a good choice for people who want to enjoy good performance. There is a 1.5-litre diesel that offers a claimed 114.41bhp and 250Nm of torque and is rather efficient. All these engines can be mated with a variety of transmissions, such as 6-speed manual, IVT, DCT, and automatic transmissions.
The Kia Seltos features a large boot capacity of 433 litres, perfect for regular requirements and even a weekend trip. The rear seats are foldable in a 60:40 layout. Other dimensions are 4,315 mm for length, 1,800 mm for width, and 1,645 mm for height. Plus, it boasts a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. So, it's more than enough for passengers and luggage.
The compact SUV section puts a lot of competition between Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Though there is a special strength in each of them, it is the Seltos that uniquely boasts sporty design, a feature-rich interior, and a wide engine options range.
