Latest Update - The long-awaited BYD Sealion 7 has finally been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 48.90 lakh. Available in two variants - Premium and Performance - the new electric SUV Coupe is fitted with an 82.56kWh battery pack. It is claimed to offer a certified range of 567km on a single charge.

The Sealion 7 electric Coupe SUV is available in 2 variants - Premium and Performance. The BYD Sealion 7 price in India starts at Rs 4890000 lakh and extends up to Rs 5490000 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India).

Key Features of BYD Sealion 7

The Sealion 7 exterior features include panoramic glass roof, electronic hidden door handles, one-touch open/close tailgate, hand-free power tailgate, electrically heated & adjustable ORVMs and LED lighting system. 

The electric Coupe SUV is equipped with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen display, which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It comes with DYNAUDIO, 12 speakers sound system. In terms of features, the e-SUV gets a 10.25-inch instrument console, 8-way power adjustable driver's seat with 4-way lumbar power adjustment and memory function, a 6-way power adjustable front passenger seat and ventilated front seats. 

Other key features of SEALION 7 includes automatic anti-dazzle IRVM, Heads-Up Display (W-HUD), rain sensing frameless wipers, windscreen washer with wipers, genuine leather-wrapped seats, NFC Card Key, keyless entry & start, automatic dual-zone AC, and PM2.5 filtration system. 

How Safe is BYD Sealion 7?

The electric Coupe SUV is based on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 that also underpins the Seal sedan. The Sealion 7 is yet to be tested by GNCAP or Euro-NCAP; however, it is most likely to receive full 5-star crash test rating. In fact, Seal sedan secured 5-star crash test rating by EURO-NCAP. The platform was found stable in the crash test. 

For safety and security, the BYD Sealion 7 gets 11 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, front and rear parking sensors, Intelligent power brake system, traction control system, electronic brake force distribution, hill hold control (HCC) and auto-hold function. 

The new electric SUV Coupe gets LEVEL 2 ADAS with features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, high-beam assist, door open warning, and driver attention warning.

Battery Pack - BYD Sealion 7 Specifications

The new electric SUV Coupe is fitted with an 82.56kWh battery pack with both single-motor and dual-motor AWD setup. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model offers 309bhp and 380Nm of torque. The Performance variant comes with dual-electric motor setup for AWD drivetrain. The front-axle-mounted electric motor offers 215bhp and 310Nm of torque, while the rear-axle-mounted motor offers 309bhp and 390Nm of torque. The combined power and torque output stands at 523bhp and 690Nm of torque. 

The AWD unit is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 4.5 seconds, while the RWD version hits 100kmph from standstill in 6.7 seconds. The electric SUV is claimed to achieve an electronically limited top speed of 215kmph. It also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (VTOL) technology, which turns the vehicle into a portable power station, and charges devices and appliances.

BYD Sealion 7 Range and Charging Time

Range - the rear-wheel-drive or RWD version of the Sealion 7 is claimed to offer a certified range of 567km (NEDC Combined Cycle). In fact, the AWD version is equally efficient and offers a range of up to 542km on a single charge. 

The BYD Sealion 7 supports fast charging up to 150kW. The battery can be charged using 11kW AC charger, but BYD offers 7kW AC home wallbox charger with the SUV. 

Dimensions of BYD Sealion 7

The Sealion 7 is one of the longest electric SUVs in its category. It measures 4830mm in length, 1925mm in width and 1620mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2930mm. The electric SUV has a minimum turning radius of 5.85 meters. The RWD model comes with 19-inch wheels, while the AWD model has 20-inchers.

What is the ground clearance of SEALION 7?

The electric SUV Coupe has a ground clearance of 170mm, which is higher than the SEAL's 145mm. The ground clearance is good enough to tackle Urban roads and highways. 

What is the boot space of BYD SEALION 7?

The SEALION 7 comes with a 58-litres front trunk capacity. It offers a boot space of 500-litres, which is more than sufficient to carry 4 big suitcases. The boot space can be expanded up to 1789-litres by folding the rear seats.
