BYD India has recently launched its first three-row electric MPV, eMAX 7, at an introductory price of Rs 26.90 lakh. The new model is the facelifted version of the earlier BYD e6 and competes with popular options such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, which offers hybrid and traditional engines. Although the BYD eMAX 7 does come with some upgrades, it still leaves out some of the features the Innova Hycross offers and thus may sway buyers in the segment. Key Features Omitted by the BYD eMax 7 Bigger Driver’s Display: The digital driver's display is 7 inches in size and provides crucial information in a clear format. This feature does not exist in the eMAX 7, which will have a different driving experience for users who rely more on the comprehensive dashboard for information. Seating Comfort: Innova Hycross is the one that provides the best comfort in seating as it contains powered Ottoman seats in the second row so that the passengers can stretch their legs. But this option is not available in eMAX 7. For the family who would be embarking on long trips, it might become a letdown. Memory Seats: This feature is very convenient, especially for families where there are several drivers using the same car. The Innova Hycross memory seats let the driver save their favorite position. Unfortunately, this is not available in the eMAX 7. Boot Space: Innova Hycross offers an excellent boot space of 991 litres with the third row folded down, making it practical for families with lots of luggage. eMAX 7 offers 652 litres of boot space, which may not be enough for larger families or longer trips. Powertrain Comparison The BYD eMAX 7 comes with two options for the battery, and they are a 55.4 kWh battery, which provides a range of 420 km and a 71.8 kWh battery, which increases the range up to 530 km. It is powerful enough with up to 204 bhp and 310 Nm of torque for an electric MPV. But, the other way around, on Innova Hycross's end, it boasts 2-litre petrol hybrid and the ranges begin at up to 183.45 bhp and deliver impressive efficiency that reads at 23.24 kmpl.
