Toyota Cars has a long list of reliable and practical vehicles that are preferred by Indians. The premier Japanese automaker caters to a wide variety of car buyers, from budget to the semi-luxury segment. The brand’s line-up consists of 7 models, categorised into hatchbacks, MPVs/SUVs, premium sedans and pick-up trucks. A leader in the SUV and MPV space, the company offers 2 SUVs, the Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Fortuner, alongside two MPVs, the Innova Crysta and Vellfire. The Toyota Glanza is the only hatch while the Camry is the only premium sedan in the brand’s fleet. The Hilux is a niche pickup truck in the company’s portfolio.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) was incorporated in 1997 as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar Group to manufacture and sell Toyota cars in India. Currently, the Japanese parent company owns a majority stake of 89 percent in this JV. The company operates out of its manufacturing headquarters located in Bidadi, Karnataka.
Toyota Cars first product in India was the Quails back in the year 2000. Since then, the car maker has led the sales in the MPV segment. The manufacturer has also been a flagbearer for innovative and cleaner propulsion powertrains with two full hybrid models in its line-up.
Toyota Cars price range starts at Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Glanza hatchback and extends up to Rs 90.8 lakh (ex-showroom) for the flagship MPV, the Vellfire.
Recently, Toyota Cars launched the 2022 Camry Facelift in India at Rs 43.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Other recent launches include the 2022 Glanza Facelift which is the company’s only AMT offering.
Toyota Cars are well known for their reliability and highly refined engines. Presently the Glanza with its petrol powertrain offers a claimed fuel economy of 23 kmpl. Following the hatchback is the Urban Cruiser SUV and the Innova Crysta offering 20 kmpl and 16 kmpl mileage respectively.
