BMW Cars is among the most successful luxury automaker in India and offers a range of driver-oriented products. The brands fleet consists of 18 models split between 7 sedans (saloons and limousines), 3 coupes, 6 SUVs, one roadster and two EVs.
BMW India Private Limited was established back in 2006 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BMW Germany. The company currently operates four brands namely BMW, BMW Motorrad, Rolls Royce and Mini. The German automaker started business in India, assembling CKD units at its manufacturing base in Chennai. Since then, it has expanded and established a parts warehouse in Mumbai and a training centre in Gurgaon NCR. The automaker's facility in Chennai currently manufactures 11 models, including the flagship 7-Series sedan and the X7 SUV.
BMW Cars range in India starts at Rs 41.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level saloon, the 2-Series and the X1 SUV. The most expensive BMW car is the M8, a performance coupe which costs Rs 2.23 crore (ex-showroom). Other notable models include the BMW 3-Series priced between (Rs 46.9 - Rs 65.9 lakh), 5-Series (Rs 64.5 - Rs 74.5 lakh), X4 SUV (Rs 71.9 - Rs 73.9 lakh) and X5 SUV (Rs 79.9 - Rs 95.9 lakh), (ex-showroom).
Recently, BMW launched the i4 electric sedan in India at a introductory price of Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). In addtion, the comapny also launched special edition models of the 3-Series, 5-Series and the 6GT to celebrate its 50 years anniversary.
BMW cars are built like tanks. These vehicles not only protect their occupants in the event of a crash but attempt to prevent a crash before it happens. Some of the critical safety features of BMW cars include Active Protection System, Frontal Collision Warning and Active Blind Spot Assist, among a few. Other highlights of the vehicle include gesture control for the infotainment system and the BMW Display Key that allows for autonomous parking and unparking, among others. New models like the 2023 7-Series also get a 31-inch 8K cinema screen at the rear as an option.
