Latest Updates: BMW India launched the range-topping iX xDrive50 variant at Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom).
BMW retails the iX electric SUV at Rs 13950000 (ex-showroom).
Variants: Currently, the iX is available in a sole xDrive50 variant that comes as a Complete Build Unit (CBU). Earlier, it was also offered in the lower-spec xDrive40 variant; however, it now has been discontinued.
The BMW iX comes loaded with tons of premium features, including an iDrive 8 powered infotainment system with Artificial Intelligence (AI), voice commands and gesture control, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, multi-colour ambient lighting with mood lighting, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless smartphone charging, 'Sky Lounge' panoramic glass roof, NFC enabled BMW Digital Key Plus tech, heads-up display, soft close functions for doors, electrically adjustable steering with memory function, 4-zone climate control, powered front seats with memory & massage functions and much more.
Safety is covered by multiple airbags, a 360-degree surround view system, a tyre pressure monitoring system, dynamic stability control, traction control, corner braking control, parking and reverse assist, brake assist, and plenty of driving assistant technologies like adaptive cruise control, steering & lane control assist, lane change assist, blind spot detection, front & rear collision warning, and attentive assist. It has also achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The iX can be specced in five regular body hues, namely Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Oxide Grey, Sophisto Grey, and Mineral White. It also gets two BMW Individual colour options: BMW Individual Storm Bay Metallic and BMW Individual Storm Bay Metallic.
BMW offers the iX xDrive50 with a 105.2kWh twin battery pack and dual motors AWD setup, providing 523PS of grunt and 765Nm of twisting force, letting it hit the century mark in just 4.6 seconds before attaining the electronically limited top speed of 200kmph.
It claims a range of up to 635 kilometres on a single charge.
Using a 195kW charger, the iX xDrive50 can be charged from 10-80% in less than 35 minutes. On the other hand, the 22kW wallbox home charger will take roughly 5.5 hours to energise the battery pack 100%.
The iX is 4953mm long, 1967mm wide, 1695mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3000mm. It offers a boot capacity of 500 litres.
Competition Check: This electric SUV locks horns with the Jaguar i-Pace, Audi Q8 e-tron and Mercedes EQE.
