BMW has launched the New X1 sDrive 18i M Sport in India. The new variant is priced at Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and sits in the middle of the SUV’s current lineup. Compared to the xLine trim, the new variant gets a few exterior changes and added features on the inside. Previously, the M Sport variant was exclusive to the diesel X1 only, which does not get a xLine trim.
BMW has given the X1 sDrive 18i M Sport a different body kit compared to the xLine variant. The new trim gets a M Sport body kit. This includes M-specific front and rear bumpers, kidney grille with black vertical slats, 18-inch M alloy wheels, roof rails, and blacked out window surrounds. The SUV also provides two new colours options such as Storm Bay Grey and M Portimao Blue.
On the inside, the New X1 variant receives an M Sport Steering wheel with paddle shifters and an anthracite headliner. It also gets additional creature comforts like electrically adjustable front seats and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Equipment like the dual-screen setup with a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, and wireless charging are the same as the xLine variant.
Powering the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 136 bhp with 230 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. BMW claims an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 16.13 kmpl.
In India, the X1 rivals the likes of the Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback, Mini Countryman, Volvo XC40, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
