Latest Update - BMW introduced the seventh generation M5 high performance sedan in India in November 2024. The sedan was launched as a completely built unit (CBU) and is priced at Rs 19900000 (ex-showroom).
The new M5 performance sedan is available in a single variant. The BMW M5 has been priced from Rs 19900000 (ex-showroom, pan-India).
The M5 comes equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features. It comes with a heads-up display, a centre-stacked 14.9-inch curved display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, and an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Other features include powered front seats with cooling and heating functions, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting system, and a selfie camera.
The new BMW M5 is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine paired to an 18.6 kW battery pack and an electric motor. The engine produces 585PS and 750Nm of torque, while the electric motor is rated at 197 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The combined power and torque output stands at 727 PS and 1000Nm.
The hybrid powertrain is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power to all-4 wheels. The new BMW M5 can be driven in an EV-only mode for 69km at a maximum speed of 140kmph.
The seventh-generation BMW M5 is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph acceleration in just 3.5 seconds. It takes 10.9 seconds to reach 200kmph and can hit an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. However, the top speed can be increased to 305kmph with an optional M Driver's package.
The new M5 performance sedan is equipped with multiple airbags, ESC with extended contents, cornering brake control, M dynamic mode, ABS with brake assist and M compound brakes. It also has Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with features like adaptive cruise control, rear collision warning, lane departure warning with assistance and others.
The new M5 performance sedan does not have a direct rival in India. The new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance could be a more sophisticated alternative to the BMW M5.
