Volkswagen is currently selling two SUVs, including the Tiguan R-Line and the Taigun. The VW Taigun is the brand’s entry-level SUV and competes against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the segment. It is offered with two petrol engines - a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L TSI.
The VW Tiguan R-Line is the flagship SUV, which targets enthusiasts. It is powered by a 201bhp, 2.0L TSI petrol engine paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic. This performance oriented SUV is available at a price tag of Rs 49 lakh, ex-showroom.
Volkswagen is preparing multiple new cars, including facelifts of Taigun and Virtus for the Indian market. Adding to it, the German automaker is planning to launch a new sub-4 meter SUV based on the Skoda Kylaq or VW Terra in 2026. Volkswagen will also enter the EV segment in 2027.
