Tata Cars is a leading global automobile company with a diverse portfolio that includes hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and EVs. The brand's fleet consists of 9 models. Tata Tiago and Altroz are hatchbacks, while the Tigor is the only sedan in the line-up. The SUV category is made up of the Tata Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. The two EVs in Tata’s product portfolio are the Nexon EV (Standard, Prime and Max) and the Tigor EV. The homegrown automaker targets a broad variety from the budget friendly hatchback to the luxury 7-seater SUV segments in the Indian car market.
Tata Cars is a part of the Tata Group established back in 1945 as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Limited with its headquarters in Mumbai.
The brand launched its first passenger vehicle, the Sierra SUV in May 1991. Since then that company has launched numerous experimental products and has acquired Jaguar Land Rover company in the process.
Tata Cars price in India starts at Rs. 5.20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry level hatchback Tiago and goes up all the way to Rs 23.55 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-line Safari XZA Plus Automatic variant.
Recently Tata Motors launched the affortdable Tiago NRG XT in the country at Rs 6.42 lakh (ex-showroom). Other recent addtions include the Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max at Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 17.74 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Tata Cars are well known for their sturdy build quality, safety, and reliable diesel engines. The most fuel efficient models are the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG, with fuel efficiency figures of 26.49 km/kg. The CNG offerings are followed by the Altroz Diesel with a fuel economy of 25.11 kmpl.
