Mahindra BE 6e is the production version of the BE.05 concept that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. The electric Coupe SUV has recently been launched at a starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This born-electric SUV Coupe is claimed to offer an ARAI certified range of up to 628kms, making it one of the most efficient EVs on sale in our country. Moreover, it is the most powerful model in the mid-sized EV category.
Mahindra has only released the price of the base variant of the BE 6e, while the full price list is scheduled to be released sometime in January 2025. In fact, bookings for the new model will commence in January 2025. Deliveries for the new Mahindra BE 6e EV is scheduled to commence in February or March next year.
Mahindra has only announced the price of the entry-level variant, called the Pack 1, of the BE 6e. The Mahindra BE 6e electric SUV Coupe is available at an introductory price tag of Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Full price list will be released in January 2025, most probably at the Bharat Mobility Show.
The new Mahindra BE 6e shares most of its features with the XEV 9e, and is one of the most feature-loaded EVs on sale in our market. In terms of exterior, the Coupe SUV gets 19-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels, LED lighting system, C-pillar integrated door handles, and two-part spoiler. It comes with dual screens comprising of 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, augmented reality HUD, ambient lighting and huge panoramic sunroof.
Other features include dual-zone climate control, auto park assist, in-car camera, a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, 5G connectivity with in-built Wi-Fi, and Level 2+ ADAS.
The electric Coupe SUV is available with two Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs - a 59kWh and a 79kWh. It comes with BYD's blade cell technology and Mahindra calls powertrain a 'compact three-in-one powertrain' which comprising of an electric motor, an inverter and the transmission. Both battery packs are offered with rear-axle-mounted electric motor; however, an AWD version with dual-motor setup could also be on offer.
The 59kWh battery pack produces 228hp, while the BE 6e with 79kWh unit offers 281hp with torque output stands at 380Nm for both versions. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds. The electric SUV offers three driving modes - Range, Everyday and Race. It is equipped with adjustable regenerative braking, semi-active suspension, all-4 disc brakes and brake-by-wire technology.
The Mahindra BE 6e with 79kWh and 59kWh battery packs offer an ARAI certified range of 682km and 535km, respectively. The electric Coupe SUV also supports fast charging. The battery can achieve 20% to 80% charging status in just 20 minutes via using 175kW DC fast charger. Using 11.2kW AC charger, the 79kWh battery and 59kWh battery can be fully charged in 8 hours and 6 hours respectively. With a smaller 7.3kWh AC charger, the 0-100% charging can be achieved in 11.7 hours and 8.7 hours for 79kWh and 59kWh battery packs, respectively.
In terms of proportions, the new Mahindra BE 6e is 4371mm long, 1907mm wide and 1627mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2775mm. The electric Coupe SUV rides on aero-optimized 19-inch wheels wrapped in 245/55 section tyres. Customers can also opt for the 20-inch wheels shod with 245/50 section tyres. The BE 6e electric Coupe SUV has a ground clearance of 207mm, while the turning circle is less than 10 meters. It offers a boot space of 455-litres along with an additional frunk space of 45-litres. The boot space can be further expanded by folding the 60:40 split rear seats.
The new Mahindra BE 6e electric Coupe SUV sports Level 2+ ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), which runs on 5 radar, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 1 camera. It is equipped with 7 airbags, 360-degree surround view camera, blind spot monitoring and Autopark. The Autopark function runs on 12 ultrasonic sensors that enables perpendicular, angular and parallel parking along with reverse assist and remote-controlled option. Mahindra has also added driver and occupant monitoring system (DOMS) to track driver fatigue. This system also doubles as selfie camera and for video calls.
Mahindra has revealed the new BE 6e electric coupe SUV in 4 exterior colours namely Firestorm Orange, Desert Myst, Everest White Satin, and Tango Red.
The Mahindra BE 6e Coupe SUV directly rivals the Tata Curvv EV, BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming EVs like Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta EV and Honda Elevate EV.
