Mercedes CLA EV

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is the brand’s biggest launch in India this year. In the company’s Indian product portfolio, it replaces the A-Class sedan, EQA and EQB electric SUVs. Interestingly, the CLA EV is the brand’s first model designed on Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA). It is manufactured at the brand’s Rastatt facility in Germany.

Key Features

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV carries a modern design language, featuring a black gloss finish closed-off grille with illuminated tristar elements and the signature twin-pod LED headlamps connected via a slim LED light strip. The side profile is enhanced by aerodynamically designed 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, flush door handles and black cladding. Similar to the headlamps, the taillamp clusters are connected by a LED bar.

Similar to other Mercedes-Benz models, the CLA electric offers a premium interior packed with advanced tech and features. The dual screen setup instantly grabs attentions, which comprises a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment supporting Mercedes’ latest MB.OS operating system and a 10.25-inch driver’s display.

Other key features include a 3-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, a fixed panoramic sunroof, centre console in matte silver finish, powered and heated front seats with memory, automatic climate control, 40:20:40 split rear seats, wireless charging, OTA updates, six 100W USB-C fast charging ports, six airbags, an electronic parking brake, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. The CLA electric has received 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP last year.

Engine Specifications

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is available in 200 Standard Range and 250+ Long Range variants, delivering a claimed WLTP range of 542km and 792km, respectively. The CLA 250+ variant features an 85kWh battery pack, paired with a rear-axle-mounted motor. This setup generates a maximum power of 268hp and 335Nm of torque.

Both Standard and Long Range variants support an 800V electrical system for fast charging. The CLA 200 version with a 240kW DC fast charger can add up to 320km of range in just 20 minutes, while the 250+ adds 400km in the same time period.
