Buoyed by the positive response for the Harrier EV, Tata Motors is now planning to launch multiple new SUVs before the end of this financial year. The next big launch from the homegrown passenger vehicle maker is the Tata Sierra, which will arrive in both ICE and EV avatar. The Sierra EV will first launch during the festive season, around October and November, while the Sierra ICE is likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2026.
Not just the all-new Sierra, Tata Motors will also launch the Punch facelift during this year’s Diwali season in October. The Punch EV will also receive a mid-life update in 2026. The Tata Punch facelift has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads.
The spy images reveal that the Punch facelift could source its design elements from the Punch EV. The front fascia receive the maximum changes, featuring a tweaked bumper, a revised grille, and slimmer headlamps with new LED DRL signature. The micro SUV is likely to receive newly designed alloy wheels, new rear bumper and new colour choices.
The cabin could share some of its changes with the Nexon EV. It is likely to get a fully digital instrument console, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a new two-spoke steering wheel, and a touch-based HVAC control panel.
The micro SUV will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 86bhp and 113Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. It also gets a CNG option, offering 73bhp and 103Nm of torque. This CNG unit is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox; however, the updated model could get an AMT choice.
In an investor’s presentation, Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra EV will first launch towards the end of 2025. The Sierra ICE models will be launched in early 2026. The overall design of the new Sierra EV appears largely identical to the ICE derivative, featuring big glass areas and the boxy silhouette.
The new Tata Sierra will be equipped with modern features, including the three-screen setup for infotainment, instrument console and co-passenger display. The electric SUV will be equipped with powered front seats with ventilation, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS and others.
In terms of powertrain, the Sierra EV is likely to share the battery options with the Harrier EV. The electric SUV could also introduce a dual-motor AWD set-up, called the QWD (Quad Wheel Drive).
