Porsche has finally revealed the New 2024 Cayenne at the Shanghai Motor Show. The SUV receives a comprehensive mid-life facelift that the brand says is “one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche”. It gets a refreshed exterior, overhauled interior, and updated powertrain choices. The automaker has started taking bookings, with deliveries slated to start from mid-2023.
The New Cayenne’s exterior has received a big refresh with the front end getting a new bonnet, redesigned grille, and Matrix LED headlights that are now standard across the range. The SUV also offers optional new HD Matrix LED headlamps that feature 32,000 pixels per headlight and can be controlled in over a 1000 ways. The side profile retains its familiar shape with minimal changes while the rear end provides new LED tail lights connected by a full-width lightbar. Porsche has introduced three new colours with this premium SUV - Arctic Grey, Algarve Blue Metallic, and Montego Blue Metallic.
The German sports car maker has completely overhauled the 2024 Cayenne’s interior. The new Taycan-inspired dashboard features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. The latter allows the person to watch movies or control media functions while being invisible to the driver to avoid distraction.
Elsewhere, the Porsche Cayenne gets a new-gen steering wheel that features controls to switch between display modes. The gear lever of the outgoing model has been replaced by a dashboard-mounted drive selector as well. Climate control functions are now handled by a mix of physical and capacitive buttons.
The All-New Porsche Cayenne receives updates to its powertrain options. The entry-level 3-litre turbocharged V6 now makes 348 bhp with 500 Nm of peak torque. The twin-turbo 4-litre V8 on the other hand is offered in two states of tune. It makes 468 bhp and 600 Nm torque in the Cayenne S while the flagship variant Turbo GT offers 650 bho with over 750 Nm of peak torque.
As for the Cayenne E-Hybrid, it uses a 3-litre turbo petrol engine that is now paired to a more powerful electric motor that delivers 174 bhp, increasing the combined power output to 463 bhp. The battery pack is bigger than before at 25.9 kWh. Porsche has not stated any electric-only range figures. Using a 11 kW wall charger, the battery can be fully charged in under 2 and a half hours.
All powertrain options come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
While Porsche has not announced a launch date yet, expect the 2024 Cayenne Facelift to arrive in India by late-2023 to early-2024. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, Land Rover Discovery, and the Audi Q7 in its segment.
