Joining the EV bandwagon French automaker, Citroen India has launched its first electric hatchback the eC3 in India. The latest entrant in the category is priced at Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two variants.
Based on the ICE platform, the eC3 shares its overall design with the regular Citroen C3 model but features certain EV exclusive changes. The exterior changes include a new electric charging port on the front fender and no tailpipe. The rest of the vehicle stays the same, helping keep costs low.
On the inside, the eC3 has a relatively bare-bones cabin, equipped with only the essential features. The electric hatchback gets a 10-inch instrument console with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech with a 7-year subscription, manual AC, keyless entry, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, dual front airbags, and a four-speaker audio setup.
The biggest change to the car is under the hood where it now features a new 29.2 kWh battery pack that powers the front-axle mounted single electric motor. This system produces 56 bhp with 143 Nm of peak torque.
Citroen claims an ARAI-certified range of 320 kms on a single charge. Fully charging the battery pack takes 10 and a half hours when using the 15 A wall charger while a DC fast charger can juice up the battery from 10% - 80% in just 57 minutes.
The eC3 is gets a warranty of up to 7 years or 1,40,000 kms on the battery pack and 5 years or 1,00,000 kms on the electric motor.
