Honda Cars India has announced that it has achieved E20 (20% Ethanol blended) Petrol compliance certification for all its existing line-up in the country. Honda is currently selling the Elevate mid-sized SUV, City e:HEV hybrid, City sedan and the Amaze sub-4 meter sedan. In fact, the second-gen Honda Amaze has also received E20 compliant certification.
This achievement shows Honda's commitment to sustainable mobility and supporting India's transition to greener and cleaner transportation. All Honda cars manufactured in India from 1 January 2009 have been E20 material compatible. Honda Cars customers can use the E20 petrol in their existing cars without durability concerns or need of changing any part in the car.
The Government of India has mandated all Gasoline fueled Mono Fuel and Bi-Fuel vehicles with positive ignition engines including Hybrids, manufactured on and after 1st April 2025 to be certified with Ethanol (E20) fuel to comply with the new emission norms.
Commenting on the E20 compliance certification, Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "At Honda Cars India, we are committed to driving sustainable mobility solutions and all our cars have been E20 material compatible since Jan 2009 enabling our customers to seamlessly adopt the greener E20 fuel without any modifications. The latest compliance certification for all our current models ahead of the pan India E20 fuel introduction aligns with the Government of India’s goal to implement greener fuels. As India moves towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, HCIL will continue to remain at the forefront.”
Launched on December 4, 2024, the new-gen Honda Amaze comes with significantly revised styling and an upgraded interior. It is currently the country's most affordable car with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, auto high beam and others.
The sedan is available in three trim levels - V, VX and ZX - and in total of 6 variants. All trims are offered with manual and CVT automatic gearbox. It is powered by a 1.2L i-VTEC engine that produces 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. The Amaze MT is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 18.65kmpl, while the CVT version delivers 19.46kmpl.
